Job Overview

To assume the role of a Hydrogen-specialist under the New Energy Engineering Division (NEED) of Process and Control Systems Department (P&CSD) in Aramco. P&CSD in Aramco is the center of excellence in providing services in the field of process engineering, automation, new energy and digitalization to various entities within Aramco. The Hydrogen Specialist role under NEED is to provide specific technical expertise related to the hydrogen production & utilization, to the projects, operations & new business initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for operating plants. Liaison with Licensors, Catalyst vendors & the Operations in troubleshooting plant upsets and other operational problems. Review existing operation to identify improvement opportunities. Participate in the planning of operating plant turnaround activities, necessary to ensure long term reliable operation.
- Provide technical leadership in the projects & new business initiatives by carrying out evaluation & technology selection of H2 production & utilization options for low carbon fuel production and CO2 emission reduction initiatives, e.g. blue, green, turquois hydrogen.
- Participate as a Lead Process Engineer in the execution of Hydrogen related projects by reviewing the various process documents at different stages of capital projects, such as Concept, pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
- Engage in techno-economic evaluation of new technologies, catalysts or adsorbents related to low carbon hydrogen production and associated fields; and provide recommendations to the business for suitable deployments.
- Develop Saudi Aramco's internal capability to generate basic parameters, such as high-level heat & mass Balance, broad equipment specifications, utility & energy consumptions, process performance etc., to provide initial inputs to studies related to new business opportunities, to assess plant performances and to verify licensor data in new projects.
- Create/Update relevant Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards or Best Practices related to the subject field.
- Mentor and develop young Saudi Arab Engineers to become specialists.
- Develop new and/or deliver existing technical courses for engineers from operating facilities.
- Present technical papers in major international conferences and publish papers in reputable oil and gas journals.
- Support research and development activities in the filed of new hydrogen production technologies.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or similar fields from a recognized university
- Have minimum 15 years of Process Engineering experience in the field of Hydrocarbon / Chemical industries, out of which:
1. at least 8-10 years' experience in the H2 production and purification technologies, such as Electrolysis, Steam Reforming (SMR/ATR), Gasification (POX), Water Gas shift and PSA technologies
2. And, preferably 2 years' field experience either in operations or in commissioning of a H2 production unit
- Have adequate design experience in order to take a lead role as the company representative when working with licensor or engineering contractors performing studies or basic/detail engineering for a H2 production related project.
- Have sufficient process simulation experience in standard software like Hysys, Pro-max etc. to model process schemes independently to analyze the performance of existing units or review the licensor's data for new plants
