Position Title: Program Director, Nursing

Summary
Leads and coordinates the provision of safe patient and family focused quality care. Accountable and responsible for the provision of professional leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of strategies that deliver high quality family centered patient care and ensures collaborative working practices at program level. Leads and coordinates the successful achievement of the Nursing Affairs strategic goals.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
. Provides advanced leadership direction to Head Nurses and others within assigned area of responsibility. Monitors the performance and development of Head Nurses and others within assigned area of responsibility.
. Provides leadership in performance improvement, and monitors outcome for assigned program and hospital wide activities.
. Develops strategic and operational plan for assigned program.
. Collaborates with nursing colleagues, physicians and other key stakeholders to achieve clinical, financial and quality objectives within assigned areas.
. Monitors the performance and guides the professional development of Program staff.
. Establishes and achieves targets for Saudization and nationality mix in areas of responsibility, consistent with strategic plan of Nursing Affairs.
. Leads and coordinates collaborative multi disciplinary partnerships working towards the achievements of constant improvement in quality patient care.
. Continuously promotes quality across program area. Monitors quality and takes effective action to address quality issues with the main stake holders. Follows up as necessary.
. Supports the development, implementation and evaluation of Nursing Affairs' annual strategic plan. Works in partnership with Head Nurses to define and clarify the strategic direction.
. Act as an advocate for patients and families; identify ideas that will improve the quality of patient care and issues that will negatively impact on patient care outcomes, using the professional practice framework and participates through team working and collaborative partnerships in identifying and implementing solutions through evidence based practice or research to demonstrate improvements reflected in. Directs program area in the achievement of strategic goals. Continually evaluates utilization of resources and redirects based on achievement or need Based on Nursing Affairs strategic direction and operational plan works closely with physician and other discipline counterparts to ensure services are managed and delivered effectively and efficiently. Leads and coordinates the achievement of successfully implementing clinical information systems at program level.
. Leads and coordinates the achievement of cost efficiency savings at program level. Identifies and achieves cost-containment goals within assigned area of responsibility. Supports and contributes to Nursing Research and makes recommendations.
. Based on strategic objectives monitors the quality and quantity of the quality data and information and investigates variances. Leads and coordinates the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction and Performance Improvement activities. Leads and coordinates special projects/assignments linked to nursing strategic priorities and professional practice model.
. Communicates effectively with all staff in a manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture and background, proactively seeking out solutions to improve communications and teamwork. Empathetic and reassuring when communicating sensitive information and advise to staff. Persuasive and reassuring as required. Treats all colleagues, patients and visitors with dignity and respect. Ensures communication and working relationships are effective.
. Leads and coordinates the achievement of targets for Saudization and nationality mix in areas of responsibility, consistent with strategic plan of Nursing Affairs.
. Actively welcomes new staff/students to program area. Leads and coordinates the retention of all staff to meet the program specific turnover rate goal. Participates in retention activities.
. Promotes staff orientation aimed at developing competence and performance and maintenance of a suitable learning environment for nursing students and new staff to develop their competence.
. Promotes a safety culture across program area.
. Develops and sustains own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness and maintains a professional profile. Provides documented evidence of performance and maintenance of skills consistent with position.
. Assists in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship in line with relevant research and evidence based practice.
. Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of all positions in assigned area against the primary purpose and strategic goals.
. Participates in the development and evaluation of IPPs
. Upholds the organizational values at all times
. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
. Participates in self and other's education, training and development, as applicable.
. Performs other related duties as assigned unit, divisional, organizational data and bench marks

Requirements
. Master's Degree in nursing or related health discipline or MBA required. If Master's Degree is not in nursing a Bachelor Degree in Nursing is required. Evidence must be provided.
. Current Registered Nurse licensure from country of origin required. Evidence must be required.
. Seven (7) years acute care hospital experience, with at least four (4) years in a leadership position required. Evidence must be provided.
. Member of a recognized professional organization and specialty certification required. Evidence must be provided.
