Purchasing Officer

Job description / Role

The Purchasing Officer will be reporting to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for the co-ordination and management of all purchasing activities across LVSA & LVSA Colleges. This will be done through the establishments of contracts & agreements with key suppliers, sourcing quotations and proposals for goods & services and actively seeking and applying ways to improve efficiency whilst ensuring compliance with Laureate’s best practices for procurement and contract management.

Additionally the position will be responsible for tendering processes, administration of contracts in accordance with policies, procedures and specified contract requirements as well as handling vendor payments and producing and analyzing reports in order to provide quality business intelligence for the organization.

Essential Job Functions
- Establish and manage relationships with key vendors, including contract management (overseeing changes, compliance with KPIs and renewal of agreements).
- Source quotations and proposals, to ensure that LVSA obtains the best value for expenditure on goods and services.
- Compile and update information in vendor and stock databases to provide effective processing, information management and reporting.
- Monitor tender and RFP procedures across the organization identifying any deficiencies and recommend any improvements.
- Periodically review purchasing/ordering procedures, policies and guidelines.
- Other duties as required.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Economics/Finance or related field.
- Excellent computer aptitude (especially MS Excel, experience with Oracle/SQA preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in relevant field.
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse context with many nationalities.
- Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English.
