QC Chemist - Monomer

Job description / Role

- Responsible for trouble shooting & calibration of equipment and preparing & running standards for equipment
- Carryout special analyses and studies required for an effective quality control testing program, test runs, corrosion control and technical surveys
- Ensure analyses are carried out in accordance with the established test procedure/standard methods, result are accurate and properly interpreted
- Prepare technical reports on studies carried out in the Laboratory
- Reviews test result and confirm the quality of process intermediates and finished products as per required specification
- Develop and establish new testing procedures, review existing test procedures periodically to improve efficiency of QC operation
- Ensure that Lab analyses activities are carried out in a safe manner
- Advise Lab techs on the hazardous nature and properties of the materials and the precautions necessary to ensure their safe use
- Train and develop Laboratory Technicians on operation of new analytical equipment, proper application of test methods and enhance their efficiency for handling various analytical tasks
- Develop, review & update as appropriate of QC policies and procedures, create SOPs and maintain Laboratory documentation system

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the Monomer / Petrochemical laboratory
- Good working knowledge of laboratory instruments
- Sound knowledge of research methods and standards
- Excellent analytical and report writing skill
- An experienced Monomer Chemist (Aromatics) with excellent understanding and knowledge of Aromatics manufacturing process, finish products, process intermediate streams and its specifications
- Must have good knowledge of analytical techniques used in QC Monomer Laboratory
- Excellent knowledge of calibration and trouble shooting of advanced Monomer Laboratory Equipment
- Detailed understanding of Aromatics testing methods and related standards like ASTM, ISO used in QC Monomer Lab
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 17025
- Coordinate effectively with manufacturing and other departments to organize analytical activities
- High safety awareness level and implementing safety policy & hazard protection
