Job description / Role
Reporting directly to the Contract Administrator, the Quantity Surveyor will provide expertise in quantity surveying.
The chosen candidate will ensure the collation of information to measure the financial and physical performance of projects against targets. Other key duties will include project estimations, reviewing contractor payment requests and providing assistance to the advice to the Contract Administrator to achieve an acceptable solution to claims and contractual disputes.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Assessing cost-effectiveness of design of project packages and tracking the actual costs as the project package develops
- Analyzing drawings and other documentation and preparing cost estimates including labour and materials
- Setting up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
- Maintaining a data bank of costs and rates
- Formulating estimates and following up on changes and adjustments to these cost estimates
- Developing monthly forecasting and cost reporting
- Valuing completed work and arranging payments
- Conducting monthly negotiations and agreeing payments for the works carried out
- Ensuring compliance with subcontractor payment policy
- Ensuring compliance with contract variation policy guidelines and assessing all variation proposal submissions
- Checking interim claims for payment and recommending values for certification
- Assisting in resolution of contractual matters and dealing with disputes and claims
- Meeting with client, engineers, architects, project consultants, contractors and subcontractors
- Negotiating and settling final accounts
Requirements
- Bachelor in Civil Engineering or Professional Qualification in Quantity Surveying
- 5 years post graduating experience on major civil or infrastructure projects
- Experience in reviewing of payments certificates, variation orders and claims on major infrastructure projects
Desirable
- Preferably a Registered or Licensed Professional
- Knowledge with international forms of Contract particularly FIDIC/CESSM3
- Railway project experience is an advantage
- GCC experience
