It is ranked as the 4th Emergency Care Center outside the United States of America, to provide (PHTLS) Pre-Hospital Trauma and Life Support program. Dental, Ambulatory (Outpatient) Care, Long Term Care/ Rehabilitation, Other adult and pediatric services provided include: Surgical and Medical wards, Oncology. Obstetrics and Gynecology (Labor and Delivery, Oncology, Antenatal and Post Partum wards); Oncology, Neonatal ICU, Operating Rooms, Ambulatory Care Center, Home Health Care Program, VIP Wards, Royal Suite, College of Medicine and Nursing College.

Unit Profile:
Unit Name Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) - Level III B

Patient Population
• Level III B Neonates - 24
• Weeks Gestation to Term

Hours of Operation
• 24 hours/7 days per week
• #of Beds: 40 Beds
• Occupancy Rate: 100%

Primary Patient Diagnoses
• Intensive Care for all sick newborn ranging from 23 wee~s gestation to full term
• Advanced Respiratory case such as conventional ventilation and high frequency ventilation and Nitrix Oxide
• A full range of ICU Services including invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and full range of medical, surgical, cardiology, endocrinology, and interventions and supportive care.

Nursing Procedures
• Routine and Emergency Patient Care
• Emergency Neonatal Resuscitation (in unit, and outreach to L&D, ER, neonatal areas)
• Physical assessment and gestational age determination
• Invasive monitoring - UAC, UVC, CVand radial arterial lines
• Non-invasive Cardiac, Respiratory,BP & Oxygen Saturation Monitoring
• Insertion and Managementof Central Venous lines (UVC, UAC, PICC, Broviac)
• Ventilation (Conventional and OSCillatory)
• Blood and blood transfusion administration
• TPN and lipid administration
• Aseptic practice
• Urinary catheterization
• Phlebotomy
• Surgery Diagnostic Tests
• Pre and post-operative care
• Patient Transport
• Fragile bone health management
• Promotion of Breastfeeding
• Falls Prevention Programme
• HAPU Prevention
• Pain Management
• Familv Education

• Diploma in Nursing (Western standard) - Essential
