Senior Tunneling Specialist - Middle East / SE Asia

Menasa and Partners is currently conducting a search for Senior Tunneling Specialist to join international consultancy company in the Middle East/S. E. Asia.

Advisory role on technical issues related to design review and compliance with the specifications.

Responsible for managing the delivery of major tunnel projects, ensuring quality is sustained, taking part in and leading design activities, further developing client relationships, and building/managing a local team of tunnel engineers capable of providing tunnel services for target clientele.

The Senior Tunneling Specialist will have an experienced in all types of tunneling and underground construction methods. He shall be competent to evaluate geotechnical data and determine appropriate design parameters, method of analysis and codes of practice for design. He will be familiar with equipment, production rate and methodologies and specifications for both bored and cut and cover tunnels as well as large underground structures, shafts and cross passages.

As a licensed Professional Engineer and a tunnel specialist, you will have understanding of different tunnel construction methods and the interaction with design, structural design of reinforced concrete and steel sections and/or the geotechnical aspects of tunneling.

Familiar with best practices for Tunnel Risk Assessments, and have experience managing the on-time delivery of work products such as Specifications, Calculations and Drawings

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering an advantage. Professional Certification is a plus
- 20+ post graduate experience with at least 15 years tunnel design experience, within major rail or infrastructure projects. Prior trenchless technology and Middle East experience preferred.
- Experience in tunnel design and construction in both soft ground and soft rock conditions and using both TBM and open excavation (such as NATM) techniques.
- Membership in a Professional Institution is an advantage.
- Experience in latest technology and its applications.
- Experience in drafting Employer's requirement for Design and Build Contracts.
- Fluent in both written/verbal communications skills in English
