Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- To manage a clinical caseload (with supervision from a Senior-Speech Therapist as required);
- Demonstrating sound knowledge and skills in assessment and treatment techniques
- Ensuring that assessment and treatments are appropriate for Saudi children in the Saudi cultural environment
- Coordinating goals and plans with other members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Setting realistic goals, input from the families and evaluating the effectiveness of the programme
- Maintaining clear and accurate reports and records
- To contribute to both speech therapy and multi-disciplinary teamwork, demonstrating effective communication and professional cooperation in all work activities

- To assist parents and careers to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required to incorporate speech therapy programmes into the familys daily activities
- To provide leadership in a specific clinical work area, coordinating, supervision and support to other speech therapists
- To ensure that the clinical and administrative requirements, standards and policies of Speech-Language Therapy Department and Centre are met at all times
- To assist with the organization and presentation of in-service education activities for speech therapy and other Centre personnel - to encourage professional development and increase inter-disciplinary cooperation
- To provide ongoing education for speech and language therapy staff in a specialty area
- To contribute to Centre activities which aim to improve community awareness and attitude to disability, disability prevention and knowledge of available facilities and resources
- To undertake additional administrative, organizational or clinical tasks as requested by the Head Speech Therapist including deputizing for her in her absences when required

Requirements

- Native Arabic speaker
- Bachelors/Masters degree

Objectives of the Speech Therapy Department:
- To provide speech and language therapy assessment of children
- To provide speech and language therapy programmes for children, as part of their coordinated management by the multi-disciplinary team
- To inform, educate and train parents and carers regarding the childrens functional abilities and disabilities, promoting positive attitudes and assisting families to maintain management of their children at home
- To participate in initiatives which promote disability awareness and positive attitudes to disability in community
