Role purpose
The Visual Arts teacher will take responsibility for developing the scope and sequence of the Visual Arts curriculum, ensuring clear links and appropriate transitions between KG, PYP and MYP. He/she will also be responsible for; ensuring that subjects are integrated into the transdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning approach, reviewing assessment and reporting processes, analyzing subject specific data and tracking student progress and providing support and guidance for arts-based learning and teaching as appropriate.

He/she will endorse and practice the philosophy, pedagogy (including environment, learning, teaching and assessment) research and innovation aspects of the Visual Arts curriculum and will work as an active member of the NEOM school team to ensure that the day to day running and development of learning at the NEOM Community School is carried out in accordance with the aims of the NEOM Education, Research and Innovation Sector. She/he will be accountable for upholding the aims and vision of the whole school in this phase and will support the work of the school in contributing to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Vision 2030.

Accountabilities
• Assume responsibility for delivery of the prescribed curriculum and its further development
• Ensure continuity and progression through KG and PYP and on to MYP
• Liaise with and advise Learning Support staff to ensure equality of provision, enrichment and extension activities for the more able and support for the less-able students
• Liaise with phase teachers and offer advice to ensure the inclusion of transdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning approaches of the PYP, MYP and IB
• Liaise with teachers in monitoring and evaluating appropriate systems for assessment, record-keeping and reporting
• Assist teachers in the planning, implementation and development of curriculum-appropriate tools and procedures for formative and summative assessment, in order to encourage and reflect high standards at all times
• Assist teachers in setting meaningful targets at different age and ability levels, in the light of information gained from tracking students’ progress
• Take a lead in the cycle of assessment, i.e. analysis, interpretation, action, review
• Monitor and evaluate the teaching of Visual Arts throughout the school, through learning focused observations, periodic audit and review of teachers’ planning and student’s outcomes raise the profile of the arts throughout the school by coordinating appropriate displays according to NEOM Community school policy and exhibitions establish contact with arts specialists in other non-competitor schools, in order to be aware of local trends and developments within the Visual Arts curriculum.
• Liaise with the Head of school and phase teachers to give regular presentations at staff and other appointed meetings, where aspects of the Visual Arts curriculum and its delivery are the focus
• Produce and update an annual set of curriculum guidelines, to give both parents and students a brief overview of curriculum content in each year group
• Manage and maintain the organisation of a high-quality learning space to support the curriculum and to match the needs of all children in the group
• Ensure that equipment in use is safe, hygienic and in a good state of repair
• Maintain up to date current knowledge regarding international Visual Arts best practice and contribute to ongoing research and improvement in collaboration with the school team
• Participate in Extra Curricular Activities as required, at the discretion of the Head of School

Requirements

Skills
• Have a mature, responsible and positive disposition and be able to work flexibly as member of the whole school team under the direction of the Head of School and independently when required;
• Have sound understanding of the importance of children's learning and development in the Visual Arts and have the ability to identify and support staff in developing professional skills according to need
• Be open minded and willing to further their knowledge and development by attending training courses, sharing information gained with colleagues, and maintaining updated knowledge of international Visual Arts best practice by reading, researching and attending relevant training;
• Exemplify high standards in practice and provision at all times
• Have up to date knowledge of Health & Safety regulations with specific reference to children's wellbeing, learning and facilities

Qualifications
Essential
• B.ED/B.A in Early Childhood Studies/Education (or equivalent)

Desirable
• MA/M.ED second degree or further relevant qualification
