Employment: Full Time

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Coordinate with the reporting manager/supervisor, exam yard for the following
• Yard booking/ planned status report
• Previous day's pending activities (re-examined, repackaging, extra care, etc.)
• Ensure that containers requiring labour stripping and containers requiring equipment for stripping are accurately identified by Foreman/ Gang leader
• Estimate the number of labourers and equipment to be used in each area in coordination with Foreman - Examination area
• Estimate the requirement of external labourers during peak periods and co-ordinate with Superintendent
• Examination Yard for arranging external labourers
• Coordinate with Superintendent - Examination Area & Foreman
• Examination Area for labour and equipment re-allocation during stripping/ repacking activity
• Coordinate with Planning department and ensuring all the booking containers are moved from quay-side to examination area before the container stripping activity is initiated
• Ensure that containers are stripped to the extent possible before arrival of customs
• Ensure safe custody of cargo during the time the cargo is stationed under the supervision of DP world
• Monitor cargo condition, stowage, high value cargo, damage, leakage, loose conditions and hazardous class, etc.
• Ensure yard consolidation is managed by Foreman/ Gang Leader.
• Collect information about containers that are required to be transferred to other yards
• Assist custom officer during inspection if required
• Ensure that container door is closed after repacking without excess and damage
• Ensure that cargo not cleared by customs is covered by tarpaulins
• After inspection, assign labourers for repacking of cargo in coordination with Foreman - Examination area and Gang Leaders
• Ensure that stripping and unpacking time of containers is tracked and is completed within the allocated time frame
• Manage public relations with consignees whenever required
• Give directions to consignees about container locations
• Inform consignees about re - examination, re -strip and other additional charges for loose cargo
• Ensure that consignees are charged for for containers where labour is used for more than 30% of the cargo stripping
• Assist the superior in allocation of labourers for second shift
• Assist superior in identifying containers which are to be repacked, but not cleared, i.e.
• Normal containerized cargo: Lying in the yard for more than 5 days
• Foodstuff and other perishable commodities: Lying in the yard for more than 2 days
• Ensure that there is adequate allocation of labourers for sniffer containers
• Ensure that sniffer containers are stripped as per schedule
• Responsible for safety & discipline in the work area
• Plan, monitor and analyse Operations reports. Prepare log report indicating for their respective areas:
• Number of containers cleared by customs
• Number of containers cleared from scanning
• Number of containers identified for re-examination, re-stripping
• Number of containers on which labour was used (to be charged)
• Number of containers on which equipment was only used
• Provide regular process control checks and initiate and support performance improvement activities
• Any other work deemed fit for structuring of tasks and goals, to achieve high productivity with efficient utilisation of equipment and labour
• Ensure compliance with Fatal Risk Standards
• Ensure compliance with Safe Work Practices
• Ensure compliance with HSE policy

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
• Experience in container yard operations
• Mandatory: 3 - 8 years
• Preferable experience in managing large labour force
• Experience in Supervisory role
• Mandatory: 2 - 3 years
• Education: Diploma/ higher Diploma/ Graduate
• Reading and writing skills in English language?
• Fully conversant with sea port safety procedures
