Optimization (Operations Research) Expert

Job description / Role

You will bring significant expertise in Operations Research as part of the Big Data & Advanced Analytics team. You will work with a wide range of challenging client engagements with some of the leading firms globally.

Responsibilities
Developing client-tailored Advance Analytics solutions with a focus on Optimisation tools
& technologies
Obtaining data, executing analysis, testing and improving outputs, presenting results
Enabling the client to understand the analysis/ methodologies and its applicability
Engaging the client to ensure solutions are aligned and translated into actionable plans
(e.g. arranging and leading small workshops)
Presentation of key findings to C-level executives
Contribution to the development of Big Data & Advanced Analytics intellectual capital
for publication and/or internal FIRM use e.g. emerging technology trends, development of methodologies & tools

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications
Strong academic qualifications from top-tier institutions, advanced degree(s) beneficial
(if no consulting experience, academic performance must be outstanding)
Functional or consulting experience in delivering value to customers in the field of Advanced Analytics
Demonstrated excellence in a complex area of analytics or mathematics research or application (examples might be a PhD in a technical field like signals processing, having built and deployed a recommendations engine, constructed & rolled out a micro segmentation framework, etc)
Personal examples of applied advanced analytics across two or more different domains of knowledge and technical capability (e.g. operations research, predictive modelling, time series and forecasting, quality control, etc.)
Willing to travel and work on client sites
Analytical and structured, results orientated




Essential competencies
Strong interpersonal & communication skills
Strong written and spoken English, other languages beneficial
A passion to serve colleagues and clients – wanting to solve the client’s problem, taking ownership of doing so, bringing together all the tools and people necessary
Ability to present your analysis clearly and to "sell" the insights you generate both internally and externally based on the value they generate for clients (and not analytic elegance for example)
Ability to focus and prioritise according to business needs

Specific Technical Competencies
Essential:
Optimisation techniques: Mixed Integer Programming (MIP)
Optimisation tools: e.g. AIMMS, Gurobi, CPLEX
Programming and/or scripting experience: e.g., Matlab, Python, Scala / Java, R, C#, VBA

Desirable:
Data storage & management: relational and non-relational databases
Analytics & BI platforms: e.g., SAS, R, SPSS, Alteryx, SAP, Tableau
Simulation: AnyLogoic, Arena
