Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Client is a leading South African Retailer, are looking for someone with an extensive senior level buying background, to lead and transform their ladieswear (and girls aged 1 year(s) and above) categories.

Key responsibilities:
- To direct and oversee the execution of a strategy for the ladieswear department to meet the company's profit and growth goals for each season / year and key fashion trends.
- Leverage experience and expertise in intimately understanding the Brand, the competition, the target customer, brand- specific trends and financial ramifications of merchandising decisions.
- Collaborate with creative, trend, marketing and merchandise planning to manage the merchandise for the business by developing product consistent with the brand to drive sales, profits and grow market share.
- Lead and develop a high performing world class team of 10 Buying Brand Merchants within the culture of the business.
- Develop and directs the team to uphold and deliver product consistent with strategic objectives

Requirements

- Minimum of 10 - 15 years buying management experience within ladieswear, having a strong leading fashion sense and awareness of the competitive landscape.
- Understand of the manufacturing environment, suppliers and capabilities.
- Understanding of the fashion value market
- Ability to innovate change through visionary thinking and strategic management
- An extraordinary leader of people, experienced in leading high performing teams through passion to continuously develop talent at all levels
- Exceptional communication, influencing and negotiating skills
- High intelligence with a true entrepreneurial risk mentality
- A charismatic, extremely confident (but humble) professional who is poised and has a great sense of enthusiasm enabling them to develop extraordinary relationships within the business while at the same time able to make tough decisions
- Strategic and organisational agility
