Employment: Full Time

Our client, a leading global project management organisation is seeking a Contracts Manager to join them on a multi- billion $USD power plant project based in South Africa.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the management of the administration of a works package in connection with all commercial, contractual and performance matters relating to a specific element(s) of the power plant utilising the FIDIC form of contract.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Ensure the relevant contract is correctly administered, initiated and completed in terms of reporting and issue of relevant notices due from the Engineer
- Ensure all correspondence and meeting records from the Contractor are reviewed and responded to accordingly
- Draft Position Papers when requested
- Ensure Employer is aware of any contractual implications associated with correspondence received
- Attend all necessary meetings and ensure they are properly recorded and minutes issued
- Ensure adequate records are maintained
- Ensure commercial processes and procedures are adhered to
- Identify contractual risks and opportunities and manage them through to conclusion to minimise Employers liability
- Develop an effective interface with the finance function in order to assess financial implications of contractual matters
- Become aware and where appropriate apply SHEQ / Zero Harm Health and Safety objectives and procedures to the role
- Become aware of the Environmental Objectives and Procedures associated with Project Site.

Requirements

- Minimum of 15+ years contract management experience with at least 10 years at leadership level on a contracting company or as an employer’s Resident Engineer.
- Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Membership of Professional Body associated with Quantity Surveying
- Strong contractual and / or legal background and experience
- Experience in managing multiple contracts or claims
- Good understanding of contract law
- Technical knowledge in commercial, contract and risk management
- Extensive contracts negotiation and management experience with the ability to deliver to deadlines
- Exposure to large engineering and construction projects
- Outstanding communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop proactive and professional working relationships
- Ability to resolve problems independently and operate efficiently under pressure
- Demonstrate ability to drive change through the organization
