Senior Grid Manager – South Africa

CLIENT

Linum Consult’s client is a major international company working within the energy sector. They are currently in the process of expanding and are seeking a Senior Grid Manager to join their team in South Africa.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leading technical discussions with ESKOM on behalf of the company
• Managing projects related to interactions between users (solar & battery storage) and the grid, and ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently
• Acting as the company’s focal point for grid connection processes and technical, commercial, and regulatory issues surrounding grid compliance
• Maintaining up to date knowledge of ongoing developments in the market, including innovation projects, power system advisory, electrical design, and power system studies
• Managing and optimising grid connection processes at all stages, form initial site selection, feasibility studies, connection application submissions, through to the offer process, design and functional specifications to construction, testing/commissioning, energisation, and commercial operation
• Ensuring the project development is timely and within budget, including project reporting with key responsibilities for all Grid and Electrical aspects of sites
• Contributing to and interpreting high-level electrical design and functional specifications for projects, including solar/turbines, substations and wind farm MV networks

Salary:
USD 9,000 to 11,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

PROFILE

• Degree qualification in Electrical or Power Engineering, ideally with a second degree in Business Administration
• At least 10 years’ experience managing the grid connection processes for renewable energy projects in South Africa
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering
• Previously worked for or alongside ESKOM
• Strong commercial acumen specifically within the energy sector
• Fluent in spoken and written English
