Accounting Officer

Job description / Role

A leading semi-governmental organization based in Abu Dhabi is looking to recruit experienced Accounting Officers to join their dynamic team of professionals. The desired candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in Accounting. The ideal candidate must have good IFRS knowledge.

The Accounting Officer is responsible for running day to day accounting activities and transactions.

The responsibilities are as follows:
- Acts and behaves in a way that is compliant with company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to Environment, Health and Safety, ethics and codes of conduct.
- Summarizes current financial status by collecting information and preparing the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Generates various reports or audit calculations and ensures accuracy, e.g. billing, payroll processing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Performs cash accounting and bank reconciliations for effective cash management activities.
- Reconciles General Ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Secures financial information by completing data base backups.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls.

Requirements

- Minimum of a diploma in Accounting; a Bachelor’s degree is preferable
- Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in Accounting
- Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus
- Knowledgeable of IFRS, finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office
