Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

PURPOSE: The Analyst, Surveillance and Analytics will assist and support the Regional Head of Surveillance & Analytics (the ""Regional Head""), in achieving all productive metrics and regional priorities with respect to the regional transaction monitoring system, AML screening system and the regional AML Sanctions framework.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities
* Develop a good technical and working knowledge of all current SCB-AML surveillance systems and Detection Scenario (""DS"") typologies.
* Demonstrate a commitment & expertise to apply advanced statistical techniques in a bid to improve, sustain and refine the performance of SCB-surveillance systems and its alerting mechanisms.
* As directed, work on specific analytics based quantitative and modeling projects so as to deliver and sustain a high quality Financial Crime Compliance (""FCC"") Program.
* Assist the Regional FCC program by undertaking periodic deployment of targeted AML typologies and/or perform and maintain special deployment tasks to assist surveillance & AML Sanctions programs.
* Assist the Regional Head to develop and maintain dashboards and metrics that allow FCC to dynamically monitor operational metrics
* Develop and put in practice an excellent working knowledge all DS that are specific to the region. Assist the Regional Head to periodically test and review the performance of all DS.
* Assist the Regional Head to periodically identify and optimize the DS Framework in cases where over/under-alerting occurs.

Leadership & Management
* Work closely with the Regional Head to optimize deployments & DS for the region on a continuing basis
* Work with the Regional Head to enable, put in practice and establish a highly professional and targeted best practice methods in analytics as applied to regional FCC Programs.
* Demonstrate initiative and leadership in engaging with the Global Surveillance Analytics Group with a keen focus to gather and share - best practice methods and techniques; as applied to FCC and surveillance programs.

Knowledge Development and Information Management
* Undertake research and development of methodologies that are consistent with the AML strategies of the Bank
* Assist the Regional Head to maintain quality documentations on all aspects of surveillance analytics as applied to Regional FCC programs. Documentations and topics will range from procedures, analytical techniques, data dictionaries, analytics libraries, DS operating models and deployment algorithms.

Stakeholders Relations
* As and when directed by the Regional Head, work closely with GTO, Group Analytics, Regional FCC and Sanctions teams to ensure and establish a smooth coordinated working relationship on collaborative projects and FCC initiatives.
* Collaborate with essential stakeholders to develop and deliver analytics dependent solutions to combat money laundering and financial crime

* Partner with business and Operational Risk to identify and mitigate financial compliance risks intermediate
* Manage and Mitigate Risks Review system safeguards and recommend process enhancements Advanced

Additional Specific Role Requirements:
* The role holder is preferred to have prior experience in the following:
* Working knowledge of how a DS management system works and operates within the context of AML typologies and the FCC program.
* A strong understanding of relational databases and the nature of banking financial transactions and associated payment systems.
* A good understanding of AML typologies and a keen desire to convert them to practical working solutions.

The role holder needs to possess the following:
- Post graduate qualifications in mathematics, physics, computing or engineering sciences.
- Strong skills in SAS/SQL and other BI Tools like Business Objects/ Cognos
- Expertise in the use of analytics software such as R, SAS Enterprise Miner and IBM-SPSS Modeller
- Expertise in the practice and theory of predictive, risk and data analytics
- Expertise in developing visualisation dashboards using tools such as Tableau and Spotfire
- Excellent knowledge of programming languages such as R, Python, SQL and C++.
- High level knowledge of predictive, classification and segmentation algorithms such as decision trees, neural networks, KNN classifiers and self-organising maps
