Job description / Role
Application Engineer - Oil and Gas Separations (Flow and Filtration Division)
The application engineer will work in the department responsible for the sizing, element selection, and general layout design of vessels used in separation technologies for the gas transportation, gas processing, refineries, and produced water.
The vessels can be supplied as a standalone vessel, with valves and instrumentations, or on a skid with interconnecting piping and instruments. The design of the vessel per the general arrangement determined by the application engineer, and in accordance with the ASME code is done by outside fabricators. Formal submittals including NDE, weld procedures etc. are also created by outside fabricators.
The Application Engineer will have three main functions: proposal engineer, project engineer, and design engineer as described:
Proposal Engineer
- Review customer requirements, project specifications, and application information to determine the best technology for the project.
- Use sizing programs to determine product specific information, and generate guidelines and data sheets for general vessel design
- Specify instrumentation when required according to customer specification and requirements
- Create project P&IDs
- Procure quotes from component suppliers and vessel fabricators to develop project costs
- Participate in project meetings for quote requests and pricing calls with the sales department
- Develop project proposals
Project Engineer
- Review project Scope of supply
- Coordinate development of project deliverables for internal and outside manufactures
- Create documentation for customer service and order entry
- Mitigate scope of supply issues and project changes
- Develop submittal documentation
- Review project approvals
- Work with project team including project managers and fabrication managers to ensure a quality product is delivered on time and within budget
Design Engineer
Participate in process and design improvements for hardware product line including:
- Product standardization
- Engineering documentation
- Project management
- Product improvement
- Cost reductions
- Designs for new application
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
- Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, isometrics drawings, and bill of materials
- Experience with the design and layout of skidded systems including piping and instrumentation
- Experience in selection of instrumentation and valves
- Familiarity with API, ASME, ANSI codes required
- Experience in pressure vessel manufacturing preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, PDS required
- Experience with 3D modeling preferred
- Self-motivated, and able to produce high quality results within time and budget constraints
