Artisan Bakery Production Manager

Job description / Role

Rapidly growing food manufacturing business requires an artisan bakery specialist to manage its bakery production area.

This is an opportunity for a technically astute Head Baker, who is trained to the highest ability, to join one of the most exciting food businesses in the UAE.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the bakery production area and ensuring that efficiency and productivity is kept high, without sacrificing on detail or quality.

This business is a reputable brand and is well-known for its premium ingredients, high quality products and excellent consumer experience. It is a niche manufacturer of gourmet food products that services its demanding demographic.

You will be responsible for looking at the ingredients and be expected to understand the science behind the chemical reactions of said ingredients. You will know how to provide the best environment for the bakery products to develop. You will also be encouraged to provide product innovation and new recipe concepts that if approved will be rolled out throughout the business.

The manufacturing facility has specialist machinery to assist with production, however the product is predominantly manually finished and therefore bakery specialists from a fully automated environment will not be considered.

You will be an ambassador of safety and ensure that this is driven in culturally across the facility. A good eye for detail and strong analytical skills when reviewing / improving quality standards will also be required. In order to achieve this patience is key and your ability to coach and mentor will be challenged.

Areas of responsibility for the Head Baker include, but are not limited to:
- Management of a small team that will grow with the business
- Training / coaching the team on high-level bakery techniques
- Improving efficiency without sacrificing quality
- Driving a safety culture throughout the manufacturing site

Requirements

- Artisan Bakery School qualification, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of bakery production
- Proven product innovation experience
- Hands-on leadership skills with a focus on coaching and mentoring
- Experience in HACCP, ISO and a BRC accredited environment preferred
