Employment: Full Time

Our client a multinational company in the DIFC require an Assistant Controller to support local Director & Acting Business Partner for the Middle East region with day to day running of the Dubai based finance team

Salary 25-30,000 AED

Duties:
- Statutory compliance, accounting and audit (incl supervision of outsourced statutory accountants)
- Tax compliance (in cooperation with local advisors)
- Controlling of local engagements (incl Working capital management) o Reporting, as-hoc analysis, forecasting and planning

Operations:
- Assistance to consultants in project management
- Assistance to consultants in business development, requests for proposals and client administrative related matters

STRUCTURE – Middle East Region
Legal entities: Dubai (FZ), Abu Dhabi (FZ), Qatar (FZ), Saudi Arabia. Tax PE: Kuwait.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- Position directly Reports to: Unit Financial Director – Middle East
- Position dotted reports to: Unit Leader - Middle East Region
- Position cooperates with: Finance teams in Dubai, Dusseldorf, London and Corporate; as well as other local functions (HR,Staffing, Office Manager, Legal)
- Position(s) Supervised: four local accountants, as well as outsourcing partners

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Structures and directs financial accounting and reporting activities, both for IFRS and local GAAP reporting.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies as well as regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Continuously monitor financial processes and identify/ implement process enhancements.

Finance Job Description
- Supervise and coach the Dubai-based Finance team.
- Manages m onth-end accounts reconciliation and cash balances, as well as reconciliation of IFRS to statutory accounts.
- Supervise and potentially performs all accounting activities including but not limited to GL,WIP, AR, AP, Time+Expense, Cash management, Fixed assets, Intercompanies, Tax Reporting including deferred taxes, Transfer Pricing, Payroll cycle.
- Supports preparation of reports to summarize and forecast business activities and financial position of each entity and Unit. Prepares ad-hoc analyses as required.
- Consults and advises management on financial issues, business development, compliance, risk management. Provides support to consulting staff for financial components of new business proposals.
- Manages working capital by closely following the Work in Progress and Account Receivables as well as interacting with clients to smooth the administrative processes.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or an advanced degree.
- Chartered accountant exam,
- Required Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and accounting standards o IFRS a must
- Local GAAP (among ME countries) an advantage
- Good knowledge of audit and tax
- Strong command of both oral and written English
- Additional languages (in particular Arabic) an advantage
- Minimum 5 years of Big 4 and/ or accounting leadership experience in a sizeable global organization in the Middle East region, including General Ledger and Subledger activities, budgeting and financial modeling.
- Team leadership experience preferred.
- Professional services industry experience desirable, but not essential.

Skills/Abilities:
- Strong accounting, analytical, numerical and structural skills
- High standard of communication, presentation and inter-personal skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Understanding of Accounting software and systems
- Self-driven, highly motivated team player who understands the implications of collaborating in a truly global environment
- Ability to work independently, achieve consensus and drive action through to completion
- A willingness to look at the detail where necessary but able to provide clear advice on the bigger picture.
