Assistant Manager - Warehouse & Logistics

Warehouse Management
- The incumbent would be reporting to the Manager (Logistics, Warehousing and Distribution) and would be involved in all the phases of daily execution.
- Achieves warehouse operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
- Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements;
- Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment.
- Meets warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Accomplishes warehouse operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Secures property by developing protection and access policies and procedures; coordinating patrols with security department.
- Motivating, organizing and encouraging the teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
- Planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, order assembly and dispatch of goods
- Efficient utilization of space and mechanical handling equipment, ensuring quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met
- Having a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these
- Coordinating the use of automated and computerized systems where utilize
- Keeping stock control systems up to date and ensuring inventory accuracy
- Organizing training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress
- Producing regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Briefing team leaders on a daily basis
- Visiting customers to monitor the quality of service they are receiving;
- Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment
- Overseeing the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment.
- Manage, oversee, supervise and participate in storeroom operations.
- Brief staff on materials to be loaded or on assembly of items to be delivered.
- Review paperwork from deliveries to determine if additional work requirements will occur.
- Check documents for thoroughness and completeness and prepare additional documentation when necessary.
- Overseeing the planned maintenance of warehouse vehicles, machinery and equipment’s.
- Producing regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

Logistics Management
- Overseeing transportation of import/export and shipping services.
- Developing processes and systems that continually optimize inbound/outbound movement of materials and reduce costs.
- Check and verify shipping records, handle questions or concerns of shipping shortages or overages and address problems with inventory control.
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions for issues of a moderate to complex scope.
- Ensure proper compliance and adherence to all appropriate health and safety regulations and cleanliness requirements are followed both with regards for personal and inventory safety.
- Consistently promote a strong corporate culture, quality and high performance work teams.
- Promote continuous improvement including strategic reviews for the warehouse related functions utilizing quality process and participation in high performance and self-directed work teams.
- Organize to service each business division while maintaining and improving overall operational and departmental efficiencies.
- Act as logistics facilitator to ensure that all elements of the domestic and international distribution process are coordinated to meet customer requirements in a timely and high quality.
- Meet or exceed established goals relative to on-time delivery and shipping accuracy performance for customer shipments Improve operational efficiencies to increase ability to process customer orders using both systems and physical improvements.
- Meet with other department heads about sales, purchasing, and backend record control, so the warehouse activities remain coordinated and running smoothly.
- Keep stock control systems up to date and planning future capacity requirements.
- Drives costs savings with a focus on Visibility, Variability and Velocity.
- Identifying technologies and practices that optimize logistics processes and overseeing logistics technology and best practices implementations.
- Developing measures to ensure effective and efficient spend for inbound/outbound transportation, driving down costs wherever possible.
- Working cross-organizationally to manage shipping, receiving, and product storage.
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
- Making recommendations to senior department and corporate leadership regarding logistics and trade compliance enhancements.
- Any related activity assignment by the Line Manager

Requirements

- Work Experience Minimum of 5+ years in related industry
- Qualification Any university graduation, preferably with a qualification in distribution, supply chain management, logistics, transportation, management, business studies or retail management.
- Job function Logistics and distribution management: organizing the storage and distribution of goods. Essentially need to ensure the right products are delivered to the right location on time. Involvement in transportation, warehousing, stock control and monitoring the flow of goods.
- Ensuring effective inventory management being practiced in regards receiving, storing, and delivery of goods. Designing and developing material movement and storage systems; improving logistical operations and managing staff.
- Primary Skill sets Result oriented, creative, possess strong interpersonal &communication skills, and have entrepreneurial leanings, critical thinking, service orientation, time management and judgment.
