Assistant Production Manager

Job description / Role

The Main Purpose of the role:
- Responsible for the output of products
- Ensure high quality of product
- Ensure Del Monte processes and procedures are adhered to
- Ensure correct manpower to keep production going
- Ensure correct power usage
- Ensure everything is documented
- Assisting the ‘Production Manager’ in the daily activities

The main areas of responsibility:
- Check daily reports which state how much production per head
- Ensure training programs are given to staff members so that they are aware of how to handle the food to guarantee quality
- Ensure documentation checklists on each machine to ensure proper usage
- Identify specific points that may affect the quality of the product
- Review reports from QA and Production supervisors
- Ensure reports are submitted to Accounts department

- To increase production per headcount

Flexibility in having to carry out a range of different tasks:
- Flexibility in terms of having to get involved in different areas and different people
- Production line follows a set structure to ensure it runs like clockwork

Work allocation, review and approval:
- Work is allocated through Sales forecast
- Operations Manager reviews and approves work
- Operations Manager and General Manager approve new product development and new machinery

Decision making authority:
- Makes daily operating decisions
- Major decisions have to be approved by General Manager as could affect cost

Contacts made with others outside of Del Monte:
- Suppliers

Unusual features of the job:
- Visits clients/suppliers in UAE
- Exposed to cold temperatures in Production Plant
- 6 day working week

Major Problems encountered when carrying out role:
- Workflow - not running to full capacity
- Sales forecast
- No focus
- Not enough investment in key machinery which would help to ensure high quality of product
