Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Banking and finance is at the heart of every economy, providing the means to help businesses expand and investors grow. The Banking and Finance team operates at the industry’s forefront, working with innovative finance products across the world.

Our integrated global team of Banking and Finance lawyers and professionals offers an expansive breadth of insight, helping our clients to structure and document transactions that help to provide financing to virtually every industry. Since company represents both finance providers and users, our clients benefit from counsel that understands the needs and wants of each party. Whether it is a domestic bank in Hong Kong, a government development bank in Moscow, or banks in several other locations, our team understands our clients.

The company's extensive, deep sector-specific experience also ensures they are working with a team that’s fluent in our client's language and understands the local market. In fact, emerging jurisdictions often engage the company to assist in the development of banking and finance legislative frameworks.

The company's Debt Capital Markets team deals with a broad range of regional and international transactional work including structured finance and securitisation, debt capital markets, Islamic finance/sukuk and derivatives.

The team's clients are primarily banks, finance companies, insurers, rating agencies and corporates, and transactions range from mid-market domestic deals to structured cross-border financings and restructurings.

The candidate will have:
- Drafted and negotiated standard bond documentation
- Drafted prospectuses for issuers across a range of industry sectors and jurisdictions (and, preferable, have good experience of transactions in emerging markets)
- Have a strong understanding of the listing rules and disclosure requirements
- Taken a lead role on transactions

Requirements

The team is looking for an associate with between 3 and 4 years' post-qualification experience. Ideally the candidate will have significant experience within the debt capital markets team of an international law firm, working for underwriters and issuers in connection with international bond issues and medium term note programmes.

Experience of the following would be helpful but is not an absolute requirement:
- Advising bond trustees
- Liability management transactions
- Sukuk transactions
- OTC derivatives
- Securitisation and/or structured finance transactions
- High yield

The candidate will be keen to work on a range of different transaction structures - in particular, sukuk and derivatives - and different industry participants, in particular, bond trustees.
