Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Faithful+Gould are seeking to expand their team based in the UAE. The successful candidate will assist the senior management in leading a team of cost managers in the delivery of various mixed use developments in pre and post contract phases.

Responsibilities

- Practical service delivery as part of the wider cost management team
- Advising clients on all cost and commercially related matters pertaining to our appointments
- Accountability for project financial performance
- Contributing to industry reports
- Client and stakeholder management
- Executive level reporting
- Internal governance management
- Mentoring staff
- Assisting in recruitment
- Training and development of team members including line management responsibilities
- Managing and assisting technical service delivery teams
- Maintaining revenue, raising invoices, management of key accounts and project forecasts
- Reporting on project performance to senior management

Requirements

Essential Criteria / characteristics of the successful applicant;

- Middle East construction market experience for a minimum of 5 years is preferable
- A minimum of 10 years post graduate experience is essential
- Excellent spoken and written English language is essential
- Arabic spoken language is preferable but not essential
- Consultancy experience is of preference, however client experience also considered if applicable to this role
- In-depth knowledge and experience of cost and commercial management of projects at both pre-& post contract stage must be clearly demonstrated
- Extensive contract and commercial experience
- Very strong technical understanding of construction is essential including practical application
- Demonstrable experience of successfully managing and delivering projects across all major market sectors is essential i.e. Commercial, Retail, Hospitality and leisure, Residential, Mixed-use. Other market sectors preferable
- Proven track record of working with the major developers in the Middle East with appropriate references
- Experience of working on 'mega projects' / projects with a high level of complexity is required
- Proven track record of negotiation skills with third parties
- Proven track record of participation into win work from past employment
- Demonstrable industry connections through Client relationships is essential
- Proven track record of leading major developments within the region
- An understanding and opinion of the Middle East Economy / outlook
- An understanding of internal financial governance and project financial controls must be proven
- Attention to detail and a practical approach to management and service delivery is essential
- Managing and working in small and large teams is essential
- A team player who is prepared to get involved in all aspects of the service delivery in addition to management
- Proven track record of developing staff and mentoring them through their career and professional accreditation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Full knowledge and understanding of industry best practices
- Full understanding of QA/QC and its practical application
- Good understanding of cost management tools including CostX
- Knowledge of UAE contract law
- Knowledge of FIDIC Contract forms

Qualifications

- Degree in Quantity Surveying from recognised University (expected minimum qualification upper second)
- Degree on other subject other than Quantity Surveying must be supported by a Masters in Quantity Surveying
- MRICS qualification
- Masters (optional)
- Other qualifications may be preferable if applicable to the role
