<b>Job Description</b>
The Philosophy Department at the United Arab Emirates University has a vacancy for an Associate Professor with AOS in Cognitive Science, AOC open (though the selection committee may look favourably on candidates with competence in applied cognitive science).
We are seeking an energetic researcher, well-published in highly-ranked international journals, and with well-established international research networks. The successful candidate would be expected to take the initiative to organise international conferences and other research events to help develop the international profile of the department. The successful candidate is also expected to have a well-developed research plan, with the potential to attract competitive grant funding.
The Philosophy Department currently runs a Minor in Cognitive Science, in which the successful candidate would be expected to teach. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach philosophy courses in the General Education Program. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of a Major in Cognitive Science.
English is the language of instruction and communication. Screening of applications will continue until the position is filled, though we aim to make an appointment to start in January 2019.<b>Minimum Qualification</b>
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in philosophy. The ability to teach undergraduate courses is a must.<b>Preferred Qualification</b>
The AOS is Cognitive Science. Candidates with an AOC in applied cognitive science and the ability to engage in cross-disciplinary research projects with other cognitive science disciplines may be favourably regarded.<b>Expected Skills/Rank/Experience</b>
The appointment is at the rank of Associate Professor, though candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor will also be considered.
