Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Reporting to Department Head, the Audiologist performs assessment and treatment to persons with hearing and related disorders.

Responsibilities may include fitting hearing aids and provide auditory training and perform research related to hearing problems.
- Evaluate hearing and speech/language disorders to determine diagnoses and courses of treatment.
- Administer hearing or speech/language evaluations, tests, or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairment, using specialized instruments and electronic equipment.
- Fit and dispense assistive devices, such as hearing aids.
- Maintain patient’s records at all stages, including initial evaluation and discharge.
- Refer patients to additional medical or educational services if needed.
- Counsel and instruct patients in techniques to improve hearing or speech impairment, including sign language or lip-reading.
- Monitor patient’s progress and discharge them from treatment when goals have been attained.
- Plan and conduct treatment programs for patients' hearing or speech problems, consulting with physicians, nurses, psychologists, and other health care personnel as necessary.
- Recommend assistive devices according to patients' needs or nature of impairments.
- Participate in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new hearing or speech disorder treatment methods or technologies.
- Continuously adhere to Al Noor Hospital dress and grooming policy for medical professionals.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Adhere to Infection Control and Health and Safety measures.
- Be actively involved in the quality improvement activities within the Department.

Requirements

- HAAD/ DHA license or HAAD Passer as Audiologist
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Audiology
- 2 years’ experience as Audiologist in a hospital or appropriate setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English language; knowledge of Arabic is preferred.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Presentable and professional attitude.
- Able to effectively work under pressure.
- Able to relate to people from different cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrate manual dexterity as necessary to complete procedures and patient examinations.
