Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Purpose: To undertake risk assessment and perform or lead, where directed, internal audit engagements of Commercial Clients; support the Head of Audit, Commercial Clients to ensure that appropriate and timely assurances are provided to the GIA Management Group, Board Audit Committee and Senior Management as to the state of the control environment and highlight forward looking indicators of potential risks within Commercial Clients as a whole.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
* Implement the audit plan by managing, leading, execution and reporting of risk-based internal audits to deliver agreed assurance objectives to established standards, timelines and audit methodology.
* Actively track and escalate, where appropriate, significant issues and audit findings that remain unresolved.
* To help develop and maintain a robust risk assessment process for documenting and communicating the results of assessment, the consolidated audit plan / strategy for the assigned portfolios / business functions.
* Support the implementation of contact / communication strategy with key stakeholders throughout the audit cycle.
* Maintain effective relationships with relevant Regional Head of Audit and Country Head of Audit and provide input / assistance on developing their audit approach as required. Act as the Commercial Clients audit expert to provide coaching and assistance to local audit functions if any queries about the portfolio.
* Adopt an anticipatory approach to risk assessment through dialogue with stakeholders to assist audit planning and provide quality input to relevant management on emerging risks.
* Establish and develop effective working relationships with Management of the business units for which the incumbent has risk assessment responsibility.
* Provide non-assurance services to business units where required, through participation on advisory engagements / special projects within the Group.
* Share knowledge, skills and experience with team members to guide and assist in their development.
* Where undertaking the role of Team Leader, provide interim performance feedback to team members.
* Assist the Head of Audit, Commercial Clients to ensure accurate and timely management reporting being provided to GIA Management Group

Requirements

* Experienced internal auditor, risk professional or business practitioner who is a deep subject matter expert in corporate banking products, segments and or channels in particular commercial clients.
* Accounting / Audit qualification preferred (including e.g. ACA, ACCA, IIA) or Audit of Corporate Banking Credit experience.
* Strong communicator with an ability to influence
* Effective written and presentation skills
* Ability to work with minimal direction
* Ability to foster a participative and cooperative work environment.
* Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to the Group's core values
* Willing to travel and strong communication skills with an ability to influence.
* Ability to collect, objectively analyse and apply information in support of risk assessment, planning and execution of audit engagements.
* Willingness and capacity to acquire new knowledge and keep up to date with developments/ market trends within area of expertise.
* Demonstrate leadership ability and the ability to prioritise and manage work of the audit team to ensure timely delivery of audit commitment.
* Adaptable and demonstrate willingness to work across different functions, culture and locations.
