Back-end Web Developer

Job description / Role

Back-end web developer required by a leading global media player. Responsible for developing new tools or procedures to assist the current development team.

Responsible for determining the root cause of development bugs and architecting permanent solutions. Also, validating reported issues, as well as analyzing, troubleshooting, documenting, and performing modifications in order to monitor, maintain, and improve systems related to ongoing projects.

Key duties:
- Develop new tools and solutions to maintenance issues as well as issues that are trending.
- Develop with a Quality Assurance mentality of long lasting code.
- As needed, validate reported issues and proposed solutions by replicating/testing in test and production environments as appropriate.
- Repair affected accounts by developing programmatic resolutions, and fix any remaining unresolved accounts using SQL, Linux, Perl and internal tools.
- Review system, software, and product issues reported from various stakeholders within the brand and enterprise via the Jira Service Desk, Solutions team, and occasionally via email.
- Analyze the business impact of issues using knowledge of products, system and database operation, and applicable internal and external tools, then prioritize your workflow as needed.
- Work directly with other development teams as needed to understand and improve systems and scripts.
- Perform other duties/projects as requested by management.

Requirements

- A strong knowledge in the following, VB.net, C# . Web basics (HTML, JS, CSS)
- Framework are a plus such as AngularJD, juery, Bootstrap.
- You work well as part of a team, and are willing to take direction, but can be trusted to get things done on your own.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills coupled with discretion and sound independent judgement.
- 1-2 years programming with Perl; preferably in a professional/work environment.
- Competent developing Web applications/tools and system utilities.
- 1-2 years of SQL experience.
- 1-2 with Linux and basic system administration.
- Ability to find the root cause of a technical issue or broken process and create a proposed larger scale solution.
- Once you get your bearings, you are heads-down and hard working in completing assigned projects.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with a LAMP stack environment.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills (patient, positive, able to effectively communicate, assist and teach others).
- Above average knowledge of at least 6 of the following:
- Shared hosting, Cloud hosting, OHWP/VPS/Dedicated hosting, Domains, HAL, SSL, Chargebacks, Google Apps, Task system, cPanel/WHM, Service Monkey, Signup flow, SiteLock, SpamExperts, ManageWP, Weebly, Git

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
- 2-3 years SQL experience.
- 2-3 years Linux experience and understanding equivalent to a Jr Systems Administrator.
- 2 years Professional/work related Perl Programming.
