BIM Technologist (Architecture/Structural)

Stantec is currently looking for a BIM Technologist to join our dynamic team and support on a construction supervision project of a large office building complex which will accommodate the client’s administration and operation employees. This project will have related functional and supporting facility buildings in Abu Dhabi.

As a BIM Technologist, you will be responsible / involved in:

• Review BIM models received from contractors based on Project BIM EIR and BEP.
• Perform detailed models review to meet LOD 300, 400 and 500 requirements.
• Perform BIM QA/QC process based on agreed checklists and standards.
• Perform clash detection process and classify clashes.
• Attend internal coordination meeting.
• Play key role in Discipline drawings review based on approved BIM model.
• Assist the discipline engineer in BIM model information extraction including sketches, schedules, etc
• Prepare draft BIM progress reports per discipline as requested.
• Perform bespoke modelling activities when requested.
• Experienced with BIM modeling activities of all Building Services requirements respecting internal process, project standards and industry best practices.
• Experienced with Revit project environment setup with respect to the Project BEP.
• Production of the field engineering and construction working drawings as part of the production team. BIM documentation, printing, binding, and other CAD related assistance for the Project and Discipline Engineers.
• Contribution into the spatial design coordination process using Navisworks platform.
• Support the Data exchange within Project deployed CDE at various construction stages.
• Works under the direct supervision of the BIM Manager / Sr. A/E BIM Coordinator and is responsible for all of the production and drafting tasks directly assigned to them by the BIM Manager or Discipline Manager.
• Providing a multi-disciplinary modeling assistance for the project team as assigned.
• Mentoring junior technologists.
• Completing tasks within timelines and budgets respecting the team look ahead plans.

• Monitors project progress by regularly monitoring project outputs to ensure project delivery, fee budgets and time frames are met.

• Applies technical tools and guidelines to all tasks.
• Strives to learn and promote new BIM authoring techniques that enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Attends training, lectures, and undertakes private research and reading into current technical literature.
• Responds appropriately to performance feedback.

Requirements

Qualifications

• 10+ Years of experience working within an architectural, engineering, construction organization.
• Preferably 3+ year local experience in UAE.
• Certificate/Degree in Engineering or Diploma in BIM/Draftsmanship from an accredited university or technical board.
• Proven track record of experience with BIM authoring (including Revit) and proper modeling/drafting methods and techniques.
• Proven thorough knowledge of BIM delivery process.
• Ability to explore, verify, and review BIM modelling progress based on delivery schedule.
• Understand the requirements of 4D and 5D and all LOD requirements.
• Ability to explain BIM terminologies such as: EIR, BEP, LOD, 4D, 5D, etc
• Contractor BIM experience is desired but not essential.
• Proven Ability to reflect bespoke design proposals through BIM.
• Advanced Software skills of AutoDesk suite: Revit, Navis Works, Auto Cad.
• Understanding of multidisciplinary coordination through good design practice.
• Knowledge of design review and coordination software such as Navisworks.
• Working knowledge of MS Office programs.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Good communication skills with competency in English.
• Complete other related tasks as expected of a BIM technologist of the above-indicated capacity.
