Employment: Full Time

Client a leading non for profit organization based in Abu Dhabi is current looking for a Brand & Licensing Director.

The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the charity’s trademark portfolio
- Managing trademark disputes and IP infringement claims on behalf of the charity’s brands
- Developing and implementing where necessary an IP enforcement strategy
- Drafting, advising on and negotiating licensee, agency, distribution and service agreements, potential (new) franchising and sponsorship agreements, as well as other commercial contracts
- Drafting, managing and negotiating any inter-charity licensing agreements for the charity’s brands
- Drafting guidelines and internal approval procedure documents such as Style Guides, Brand Manuals and Brand Overviews
- Resolving disputes and litigating on matters mainly of debt collection and copyright infringement, where possible via mediation
- Converting new prospects into clients for the charity, either as licensees, licensing agencies or distributors
- Handling the sale and purchase of goods and services
- Developing strong relationships with external pro bono counsel to ensure cost effective strategic specific advice where necessary
- Understanding the charity’s brands as well as developing a robust brand strategy going forward
- Negotiating sponsorship agreements for events
- Assisting the trustees with contentious or non-contentious matters
- Negotiating and managing agreements with factories holding stock of the charity’s branded products
- Supporting the trustees in innovation projects involving new brand launches from an IP and contract perspective
- Managing the charity’s domain name portfolio

Requirements

- Be an experienced professional in the licensing industry with seven years’ experience of licensing intellectual property
- Have at least seven years’ experience in international licensing and a proven track record in account management, rights and contract negotiation
- Be energetic, determined, goal-driven and self sufficient
- Be able to multi-task/prioritise, and work well under pressure
- Have a flexible, creative, problem-solving attitude
- Write accurately, fluently and persuasively in English
- Be able to type at no less than 75 wpm and preferably 75-80wpm (please note that this ability is non-negotiable and a typing test will be required prior to interview
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in cause-related or charitable activity
- Be experienced in management of online and offline artwork and product approval against brand Style Guides, and be experienced in maintaining and updating Style Guides
- Have proven ability in royalty management and forecasting or other billing formats
