Position: Business Development Associate

Supervisor: Regional Business Development Manager

Business Group: Business Development

Salary: 10,000 to 15,000 + Commission

Purpose

- Generate profitable new business opportunities and conversion to Lockton.

- Maintain and expand client relationships, both in terms of quality and value.

- Achieve or exceed targets through new business and client development activity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for understanding, accepting and promoting the Lockton culture, remaining consistent with the organisation's philosophies and mission statement.

- Look for new business development opportunities through a monthly action plan and obtain relevant information for targeted prospects.

- Effectively manage a pipeline of prospects to meet short medium and long-term financial goals. Contribute to the preparation of activity reports and pipeline status (via pipeline management tool e.g. Salesforce)

- Contribute to the preparation of annual budget for retained book and new business.

- Maintain effective working relationships with all Associates to ensure the best possible environment for client service.

- For all clients in portfolio, monitor service standards and client satisfaction through regular contact with client and service team and engage in resolution of client complaints.

- Embrace division’s business plan and compensation model.

Requirements

Competencies:

- A general working knowledge of employee benefits (medical and life etc.), knowledge of other lines of business is a plus.

- Ability to consult clients on other Lockton services and insurance needs.

- Ability to identify opportunities for business development and knowledge of the resources available within Lockton and how to source such services.

- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing with clients, insurers and other associates to maintain a good relationship.

- Ability to coordinate the production of Lockton reports or presentation material which clearly explains necessary detail to clients, insurers and associates.

- Excellent presentation skills in both preparation and execution.

- Demonstrated ability to instil confidence with clients so that the client looks to you and to Lockton as more than just an insurance broker, but as a partner in business.

- Professional and tactful negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve objectives.
