Job description / Role
• Participate in conducting studies needed to develop and updating transportation strategic and implementation plans for Dubai Emirate based on the global trends and the urban and economic growth of the emirate.
• Study and evaluate the impact of different transportation policies and travel demand management measures which can enhance the optimization, integration and sustainability of the Dubai transportation system
• Conduct specialized studies and prepare technical reports/presentations on different issues related to the transportation system in Dubai and between Dubai and the neighboring emirates.
• Conduct international benchmarking and studies related to global transportation planning trends and technologies and identify implications on Dubai transportation system
• Participate in the efforts of collecting and analyzing travel supply and demand information needed to update the “Dubai Strategic Transportation Planning Model” and in the relevant data base building and management.
• Participate in developing multi-criteria evaluation systems and evaluating different transportation planning scenarios for road and public transport systems in Dubai Emirate.
• Identify various transportation planning problems in Dubai and identify/conduct studies that contribute to solving these problems
• Participate in identifying major transportation policy and planning studies/projects that need to be carried out by the department to advance and optimize Dubai Transportation System, draft terms of reference for the same, and manage the implementation of these studies as needed.
• Participate in efforts related to the development of project benefit realization frameworks and identifying project benefit areas and KPIs.
• Participate in the efforts of managing the RTA-UITP “Urban Mobility Innovation Index, UMii” initiative and in reviewing the relevant technical reports and identifying areas of improvement based on benchmarking the cities participating in the initiative.
• Participate in providing technical support to the UITP-RTA MENA CTE “Center of Transportation Excellence” and in facilitating and reviewing CTE studies.
• participate in conducting analytical transportation studies based on data available from RTA Smart Decision Support Center (SDCS) and other sources
• Participate in the annual transportation projects’ prioritization and budgeting efforts
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.
Requirements
• Master’s degree in Transportation planning from a recognized university.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in transportation planning and studies related fields.
• Excellent knowledge of transportation scenario evaluation tools and procedures
• Data manipulation and proficiency in the use of relevant software;
• Highly analytical thinking with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes.
• Computer-literate performer with extensive software proficiency covering wide variety of statistical related applications.
• Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.

About the Company
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) came into formation in November 2005. It is responsible for planning and executing transport and traffic projects in Dubai, preparing legislation and strategic plans, planning and constructing the Dubai Metro, developing other integrated solutions of road systems and marine networks that are safe and in line with the city’s economic development plans and the highest international standards.
