Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

An excellent opportunity has arisen to work for a large FMCG in Dubai as their Commercial Head commodities

- Develop and execute commodity trading strategy and policy.
- Analyze the markets to identify new trends and opportunities (e.g. product evolution, alternative suppliers and commodities, order processing methods) to ensure best cost effectiveness for the company.
- Negotiate and agree with General Manager on sales budgets and business development objectives.
- Implement and optimize the existing trading processes and procedures.
- Open and penetrate new markets for buying and selling.
- Enlarge commodity portfolio.
- Direct and conduct purchase, sales and export operations and assure achievement of budgets agreed with the General Manager.
- Conduct customers’ meetings, market studies and promotion activities towards expanding trading operations with respect to sales and product portfolio expansion.
- Develop statistical models and systems to facilitate electronic trading of futures and options derivatives.
- Direct the work of analysis and judgment on the trends of variety of domestic and foreign commodities.
- Ensure timely purchase of all commodities through proper planning and logistics.
- Supervise portfolio managers in implementing commodity trading strategies.
- Develop quantitative models and proprietary trading algorithm for the traded Products.
- Develop new ideas, new models and the functional specification of the trading strategies.
- Develop business plan for the sector that states and explains all the significant data in relation to work.
- Supervise and monitor tasks accomplishment of execution contracts department.
- Follow up and review of contract forms prior to the ship’s owners and the agents of shipping companies.
- Constantly liaise with end customers regarding their purchasing needs.
- Gain continuous industry insight and knowledge of the commodities categories.
- Conduct periodical risk assessment, and design and manage adequate Countermeasures.
- Define and manage supplier portfolio; select suppliers; established strategic supplier relationship where appropriate and manage it accordingly.
- Correspond to clients’ needs, design customized trading strategies to meet clients business needs in trading and hedging.
- Ensure the availability of the insurance coverage for contracts will be concluded with the agents and ship owners.
- Supervise the developments and implementation of procurement and contract management instructions, policies and procedures.
- Supervise the verification of the purchase orders to verify the accuracy of the terms and specifications
- Identify and evaluate trends and options, choosing a course of actions, defining objectives, evaluating outcomes.
- Determine work objectives and set priorities with the division
- Secure deals with new clients
- Set policies and operational tools for the development of operation in division
- Cooperate with the other divisions /departments with regard to common activities within the organization
- Set an appropriate reporting system and conduct periodic meetings necessary to liaise with subordinate departments and discuss various activities
- Monitor performance to ensure accomplishment of targeted workloads on the time specified
- Develop second line and successors
- Keep the status of the company as a leading market maker

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree – ideally with focus on Economics, Finance or Commerce
- Complete Fluency in English, proficiency in other languages is plus

Computer Skills:
- Necessary proficient use of Microsoft Office applications

Overall experience of minimum 15 years of the following Special requirement:
- Working with the commodities (wheat, corn, soybean, soybean meal, barley, sunflower, DDGS, corn gluten, sugar …. Etc. ) markets in trading room risk, valuation and/or risk monitoring with large financial institution.
- Working with the related brokering field (marine, oil or shipping industry).
- Have quantitative background, strong critical thinking, and deep understanding of statistical analysis, option pricing and term structure models.
- Proven track-record of successful purchasing management, planning and top- level negotiations with international suppliers.
- Ability to define a purchasing strategy, goals and project management
- Has a wide experience in export of the soft commodities to both of MENA region and Black Africa with experience in DMCC.
