Job description / Role
A senior management position with responsibility for the full commercial management of major project in Yemen has arisen with a top 10 construction company in the middle east.
The successful candidate MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK AT 1-2 WEEKS NOTICE, You will be based on a secure military facility in Aden, Yemen with top of the range security.
You will be required to work 8 weeks on 2 weeks off (3 weeks in Yemen - 1 week in Dubai - 3 weeks in Yemen - 1 week in Dubai - then 2 weeks off)
The project has an element of civils and build, so a candidate who has this dual experience would be great.
Reporting to the Group Commercial Director & for the management and administration of the commercial aspects of contracts both pre and post tender and execution in accordance with company internal controls, policies, local legal requirements and recognised good practice. To divide duties across all company business streams.
Key Tasks:
- Review and administration of contracts and contract changes, accurate preparation of monthly contract reviews.
- Lead negotiations with clients of contracts in terms of monthly valuations, variations, terms and conditions.
- Compilation, management and negotiations of contractual claims both up and downstream and able to undertake claims avoidance measures.
- To promptly manage in consultation with the Commercial Director and bring to satisfactory outcome any arbitration notice or legal action issued by or against the company.
- To ensure all contract commercial operations are in accordance with the company’s procedures and policies.
- Cooperation and liaison with the Company’s Pre Construction staff in terms of pre and post tender contractual and commercial advice including preparing and maintaining live commercial risk registers.
- Cooperation and liaison with the company’s Operational Managers to ensure sound commercial operation of all on-going contracts to ensure successful financial outcomes of all operations.
- To aid in the on-going continuous improvement of commercial management systems and procedures which ensure contract requirements are met and the company’s position is protected in all on-going trading activities.
- To set a positive, professional example to all subordinate staff and demonstrate good leadership supporting the company’s core values.
- Mentoring of sub-ordinate staff & positive personal development
Requirements
* Must be available at 1-2 weeks notice
* Must hold a valid passport
* Main contracting experience as a Commercial Manager or higher
* Experience of working on Building projects
* Willing to work in Yemen
* HND/HNC/Bsc
