Atkins have recently developed a “One Atkins 2020” strategy for the future. To support this initiative Atkins Group IS have defined an operating model for 2020 to revolutionise the way IS services are provided to the company, moving from a ‘Business as Usual’ focus to an organisation driven by Business Value. Key concepts include: transitioning to digital products, adopting agile delivery approaches across the organisation, leveraging cloud services, and applying focus to supporting Atkins project bids and delivery.

The Computing Services Manager will be responsible for:
- End to end accountability for the computing services globally.
- Defining the policies, standards and design principles for the computing platform globally
- Ensuring the strategy and technology roadmaps are in place and reviewed regularly with the Systems Architect
- Proactively managing the technology life cycle of services, ensuring most appropriate versions and updates are deployed
- Establish a capacity management process thus ensuring available and appropriate levels of capacity are maintained and delivered to agreed service levels.
- Ensuring the most appropriate solutions are utilised for the business services
- Responsible for leading and overseeing the transition from traditional computing solutions to cloud services
- Providing specialist third and fourth level support services, and owning the liaison with 3rd party vendor support
- Responsible for ensuring the ongoing transition of operational/transactional processes and procedures to Global Services (1st & 2nd level)
- Continual service improvement through best practise and new and innovative technologies
- Lead the adoption and delivery of automation to stream line and improve services for the business
- Leading the Computing Services team, a distributed team of experienced technical staff based globally. Managing their workload on a day-to-day basis, assigning resources to tasks as appropriate and ensuring suitable levels of service and support coverage globally
- Ensuring that projects are delivered to budget and time
- Maintaining and developing the teams working environment including processes, tools, data-sets and applications. 15. Reporting progress, achievements and results against Service Level Agreements.
- Working with your colleagues in the Technical Services organisation you will review, negotiate and maintain achievable, acceptable service levels.
- The ownership for prompt remediation of risk and audit actions for accountable services

Requirements

We are looking for a confident leader with proven experience delivering services to a global business within agreed SLA’s and budgets. The Computing Services Manager will require excellent stakeholder management skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation.

Experience should include:
- Extensive experience working within ITIL aligned Service Delivery organization
- Strong experience of coordinating service solutions with business stakeholders
- Experience managing and working with remote teams
- Proven experience of delivering process efficiencies and improvements
- Experience delivering projects and solutions
- Budgeting and financial management experience
- Proven technical experience in delivering and supporting enterprise class computing services
- Requirements:
- Proven experience of a wide range of server hardware and virtualisation technologies including HP, Cisco, Dell, VMWare, Hyper-V and emerging technologies
- Experience in designing and implementing common/standardised computing platforms
- Experience in delivering, managing and supporting cloud computing platforms
- Significant experience working in enterprise-class environments
- Strong knowledge of capacity planning and management
- Understanding of server performance management
- Understanding of security in relation to server, applications, data and databases
- Experience in managing relationships with key suppliers
- Expert knowledge of server technologies and operating systems including Microsoft and Linux.
