Construction Engineer (Transport)

Job description / Role

NTS Group are working alongside a global multinational to recruit a Construction Engineer (Transport) for their roads division. The Construction Engineer will perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing road construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.

- Provide technical support to the Commercial Team for the road projects in UAE and Oman
- To be an expert in the soil stabilization related to the road projects
- Be in charge of the cost optimization and control projects costs
- Understand the road construction, lead the process and follow up on the progress
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
- Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
- Provide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairs.
- Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; cement industry knowledge is a plus
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in civil or road engineering;
- Exposure in Cement Industry is preferable

Job-Specific Skills
- Profound knowledge of AASHTO Road Design;
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD or other computer based design packages;
- Relevant experience in UAE/ Oman for the purpose of infrastructure development;
- Ability to travel in UAE and Oman

Generic Skills
- Ability to handle stress and demonstrate communicational, organizational, and analytical skills for both technical knowledge and human assets.
- General computer knowledge (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point and etc.)
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal and presentation skills, sharing information openly with others
