Employment: Full Time

Our client is a well established and high respected international construction and property consultancy offering cost and project management services to clients throughout the UAE. Headquartered in the UK, the Middle East operation has gone from strength to strength over the past 7 years by delivering outstanding service to their many high profile clients in the region.

A Cost Manager is now required to join the existing team in Abu Dhabi. Primarily, this role will be to support senior management with the deliver of cost management appointments on multiple exciting projects in the UAE.

Requirements

The successful individual will be responsible for:
• Representing the company at project meetings with clients, designers and contractors to provide advice on the financial aspects of the project
• Communicating with the client and design team regarding information required for the purpose of undertaking cost estimates and tender documentation
• Participating in Value Engineering exercises and contributing to the project by making suggestions for alternative design, construction or procurement strategies.
• Reviewing drawings or RFI/TQ responses as and when they are received relating to the on-going design development and construction process of projects and reviewing any changes against cost plan or construction document parameters and reporting on the cost impact of any changes accordingly.
• Preparing cost estimates and associated reports at various stages of the design development process (concept, scheme design, and detailed design) in line with the company’s standard format reports.
• Preparation of Bills of Quantities / Pricing Documents for tender purposes, in line with the Principals of Measurement International (POMI) method of measurement. Supporting and reviewing junior members of staff during tender document preparation.
• Reviewing and analysing tender returns and issue clarifications to contractors ensuring that risks and issues are being removed from the proposals prior to contract award
• Preparing tender reports commenting on the tender returns (price, quality, risk, budget comparison) and making recommendations as to contractor selection.
• Draft contract documentation in line with FIDIC standard forms of contract.
• Visiting site and reviewing contractor’s valuations. Preparing payment recommendations for issue to the client.
• Reviewing and negotiating the value of variations proposed by the contractors during the post contract period.
• Preparing monthly financial statement’s providing the revised position relating to capital cost, financial risk and cashflow for issue to the client.
• Preparing the proposed final account for issue to the contractor and negotiating the final account position accordingly
• Undertaking initial review of any received contractual claims and providing comment and recommendations.
• Administering project work in line with company QA procedures.

Applications will:
• Possess a quantity surveying degree (or similar) from a recognized University
• Have 5 years experience (preferably within a consultancy environment)
• Demonstrate experience of a residential, hospitality and commercial projects
• Possess a minimum of 1 years GCC experience, preferably UAE
• Show outstanding communication skills and the ability to liaise with clients directly.
