Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Avail all CSSD services to all the nursing and medical units in the Hospital.
- Competently assist with the ordering, receipt, storage and distribution of stock (Sterile).
- The post holder assist with the collection and delivery of re-usable sterile equipment to and from wards and other users for onward travel to the CSSD for sterilization.
- Accurately carry out daily tests on the sterilizers at start of machines.
- Check instrument / sets on return from users to ensure all items are present and in a good condition.
- Inspect equipment for cleanliness – workable –damage or deterioration of materials, efficiently and accurately.
- Report any missing items to the supervisor and user, immediately.
- Record any incident of missing equipment or inform the department head immediately.
- Ensuring equipment stays together for traceability process / check lists.
- Identify equipment which can not go through the machinery and ensure it is traceable through other processes / Log sheets.
- Hand washing of delicate or difficult to clean equipment.
- Use of appropriate cleaning brushes and chemicals.
- Restocking chemicals to the machines and working areas.
- Cleaning of tables and machinery - loaders & carriages etc.
- Manual tracking system for equipments.
- Use of all machinery for the cleaning of equipment
- Use of air and water guns in the cleaning of equipment.
- Communicating faults in area of machinery and structure to status board and informing the estates help desk.
- Requesting replenishment stocks - chemicals - gloves - etc.
- Replace chemicals to machines
- Decant residual chemical into same batch container for use in machines.
- Process equipment into the correct set (Check list)
- Wrapping and labeling of equipment using the appropriate packing method.
- Handling trolleys to transport and transfer equipment.
- Distribute on a regular basis to theatres and other units using correct trolley and/or designated containers
- Ensure all work is carried out correctly and in a timely manner.
- Follow all department policies and procedures.
- Follow all Quality Control/techniques/procedures in the execution of the departments sterilization process.
- Fill out appropriate incident forms as needed.
- Generally responsible in handling patient care equipment, general cleaning, assemble of instruments and other CSSD related tasks.
- Adhere to Infection Control and Health and Safety measures
- Actively involve in the quality improvement activities within the Department.

Requirements

- At least two years experience in the same position
- HAAD/DHA/MOH license or eligibility to be licensed by HAAD.
- Associate Degree in CSS technology of minimum Two (2) years’ course duration (As per HAAD)
- Certificate in any health related field with Certification as a member with one of the following: o Certification by the Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution ( CBSPD) USA http://www.sterileprocessing.org/ o International Association of Healthcare Central Services Material management (IAHCSMM) http://www.iahcsmm.org/
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations
