United Arab Emirates University invites applications for the position of Dean of the College of Engineering. This position provides an outstanding opportunity to lead one of the largest Colleges in the University and one of the most prominent engineering colleges in the Middle East. We are seeking an ambitious and highly qualified individual who would be able to make a mark in this dynamic region and take the college into its second half century. We are looking for an academic administrator with a futuristic vision to make a positive impact on the College, the University and the UAE. The anticipated start date is 1st August 2022, or as soon as is practicable.
United Arab Emirates University is the principal university of the UAE. It was the first federal university to be founded (in 1976) and is therefore approaching its 50th anniversary. UAEU remains the only fully comprehensive university in the UAE. It is situated in the historic city of Al Ain, which is about 100km inland of both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. UAEU is in the process of transitioning into a research-intensive institution to be fit for its second half-century. It enrolls approximately 14,000 students, with a growing international student body. As UAE's flagship university, it offers a full range of accredited, high-quality graduate and undergraduate programs through its nine colleges.
The College of Engineering was inaugurated in 1980 and includes five academic departments that offer eight Bachelor's degrees, namely Aerospace Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering, all of which are recognized nationally by the Ministry of Education, and (except the recently launched Aerospace Engineering program) accredited internationally by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Engineering departments also offer eight M.Sc. degrees and an interdisciplinary Master's in Engineering Management. PhD programs are also offered in all the scientific disciplines. The College currently has about 120 faculty and 2,800 students.

The candidate must have a PhD in engineering or a related field and must qualify for appointment as a Professor within one of the Departments of the College.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
The Dean of the College of Engineering reports to the Provost and has overall responsibility for academic leadership and administration of the College of Engineering. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader with a clear vision for the future of engineering in the UAE and beyond. He/she should have a strong track record in research and a demonstrable commitment to research and teaching excellence. He/she should be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion across all areas of university and college business, with sensitivity to cultural differences, and have a proven record of success as an academic administrator.
