Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Job Purpose
• To participate in the initial phase of food preparation undertaking any process or operational activities as and when required

Key/Functional Responsibilities

• Prepare produce to Company standard as required and directed . Ensure food quality and consistency is delivered at all times to Brand guidelines.
• Work within operational standards to ensure the kitchen and food preparation process remain within Company and Municipality guidelines.
• Instruct Commi team on requirements and supervise the allocated tasks.
• Guide and train the junior kitchen staff to ensure the kitchen standards and food preparation basics are in place at all times.
• Work efficiently to control wastage of food and non- food items.
• Ensure the highest standards of hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen at all times.
• Possess complete and thorough knowledge of how to operate all kitchen equipment and machinery, including cleaning and maintenance practices.

• Cost control /Waste reduction

Business Effectiveness/ Productivity
• Adherence to work standards/operating standards ( e.g. hygiene, cleanliness, discipline etc)
• Timely completion/achievement of assigned work/targets

Customer
• Customer satisfaction/feedback (internal/external)

Requirements

Education
• Certification in Food and Beverage/ Catering would be an advantage

Experience
• 3-5 years of total relevant experience in the catering industry

Functional Skills
• Able to communicate in English (verbal, reading and writing).
• In depth knowledge of produce and food preparation.
• Specialist skills may be required for certain roles, eg. Pastry, Sushi
• Interest and enthusiasm in the hospitality industry.
