What you will be doing

The expectation for the Deputy Country Manager is to be a market expert who will be able to build an affective, agile, market engrained ecosystems allowing business to thrive to its best potential.

The incumbent of this role will act as catalyst for action, business facilitator and point of contact in leading all local operations in line with group direction, policies, and procedures. To be the Group culture custodian and communication ambassador embracing inclusive culture and the servant leadership role model. The role acts as the local face of the Group externally creating a strong personal brand and network to maintain and build stakeholder relations.

Business Development

- Build and maintain excellent relationship with key local stakeholders and lead all negotiations required to deliver the agreed growth objectives (i.e. Shareholders, Partners, Governmental Entities, Banks, Real Estate Company, customers, suppliers and services providers, etc.)
- Represents the company when required in front of local authorities, trade associations, employee organizations, etc.
- Lobby through the local chamber of commerce to drive support and buy in for the Group and the local retail sector.
- Act as an ambassador and local sponsor for all group initiatives, policies, and procedures, ensuring these are effectively communicated and adhered to.
- Adopt an enterprise-wide mindset and maintain group best interest when advising on IRR, store closings, write-off cases, cash, structure evolution, and any important changes such as shop renovation or relocation.
- Coordinate with verticalized functions on country-specific regulations or cash-flow when it comes to importing goods, stock and equipment to avoid legal complications.
- Consult on country level delivery regarding profit, revenue, budgets and quality targets driven by group vertical leadership team.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of all non-verticalized support and business functions.
- Coordinate and lead specific task forces on specific subjects of focus within country level
- Endorse & sponsor group working policies and procedures through cascading effective communication and ensure senior management alignment.
- Facilitate services and provide required information to positively influence the decisive process regarding business operations at country level.
- Act as the vibrant link between the local partners and shareholders with the Group aligning objectives and expectations.
- Flag risks and put forward solutions regarding any business continuity plans at a country level and be the local representative of the group in case of any crisis communication.
- Proactively provide local market insights on market, consumers & competition to liaise with all stakeholders and SGII department on any actions required (i.e. Specific brands, concepts and locations that are promising to the local market).
- Monitor the business performance and present monthly reports highlighting country sales, investment opportunities, profitability, cash generation, local economic situation, and competitor updates.
- Lead the engagement of Chalhoub Employees at country level to attain being employer of choice and monitor the local eNPS scores and feedback to put in place any relevant actions plan to address local pain points.
- Act as custodian, role model of our group values and be inclusive servant leader in actioning the local plans to attract, develop and retain employees.
- Monitor local nationalization targets and initiatives to ensure targets are met/ exceeded and nationals remain motivated, engaged, and local ambassadors.
- Facilitate pleasant onboarding journey reflecting our brand to the newcomers and spread the community spirit.
- Share feedback on salary reviews to ensure harmonization and equity within the country.
- Act as custodian, role model of our group values and be inclusive servant leader in actioning the local plans to attract, develop and retain employees.
- Establish strong relations and cooperation with the leading universities
- Manage all local Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives driven by group and represent the Group in charities, and external community meetups.

Strategic Partner
