Design Manager - Dubai, UAE
This position assigns work projects and monitor group projects, outlines objectives, requirements, design approaches, and project scheduling and acts in lead role over other designers and/or technician
This position achieves organizational and department results by overseeing the Design Professional and Technician levels.
- The incumbent has thorough understanding of the planning functions on a day-to-day basis, and thorough understanding of business objectives and priorities in own area.
- He/she is responsible for ensuring that all drawings meet quality, accuracy and dimension standards. Also, the incumbent performs design engineering tasks using standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
- The incumbent has deep knowledge of multiple subject areas or disciplines; thorough understanding of business objectives, priorities and strategy for own area; and understands industry practices and competitors.
- He/she prioritizes work to meet project/team deliverables. This position impacts the function/department through responsibility for the delivery of end results; may include multiple projects and processes.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess a relevant engineering degree and hold Chartered (or equivalent) Engineer status (e.g. MICE, MCIWEM, MIMechE)
In addition, it would be preferable that the candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:
- Commercial acumen and risk management
- Professional knowledge
- Service delivery processes, tools and techniques
- H&S and environmental requirements
- Leadership, team dynamics and enthusiasm
- Continual improvement and value management
- Client relationship
Specific interest in any of the following areas and a clear understanding of how each interacts:
- Highways
- Wet services
- Dry services
Additionally knowledgeable in the management of CAD functions such as:
- Project setup
- Quality control/compliance
- Team training/development
- BIM – Civils 3D and Navisworks
- Bentley Projectwise
