Job description / Role
The Director Flight Operations is nominated Post holder for Flight Operations in accordance with CAR OPS 1.175.
Primary Duties:
- To plan and execute all activities in the area of aircraft operation and all other operational issues and to coordinate this with the related departments.
- To introduce and monitor flight operational and operational safety standards based on national and international rules, regulations and laws.
- To perform all duties as required by CAR OPS 1.175 (i) (1).
- To establish and maintain procedures and processes that are necessary according to CAR OPS 1
- To assist the Safety & Quality Manager to implement the Quality policies within the Flight Operations Department.
- To introduce and implement corrective actions derived from Audits and assessments.
- To manage human resources to ensure that sufficient qualified and skilled employees are available to perform the flight operations duties.
- The authority to sign flight operations documents.
- To file and submit required reports, declarations and notifications to the authorities.
- To communicate with the authorities and governmental offices.
Requirements
- General Post holder requirements will be as per CAAP 8.
- 1000 hours flight time or 3 year’s experience in operations similar to those proposed to be operated.
- 1000 hours in command of aircraft similar to those proposed to be operated.
- 500 hours as a TRE/TRI on aircraft similar to those proposed.
- A minimum of 5 years management or supervisory experience in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted with similar aircraft on international commercial operations
- A minimum of 3 years on international commercial operations as Pilot in command
- Hold licence and rating(s) appropriate to the proposed Operation.
- Prior to the commencement of revenue services, hold unrestricted approval as aTRE/TRI on the major type of aircraft to be operated.
- Should the fleet change in the future, he shall maintain the TRE/TRI on at least one major type in current operation
