This is a newly created position, reporting to the Chairman and Audit Committee

The Director, Internal Audit heads an independent appraisal function to the Group by examining and evaluating the Group’s activities and internal control structure. The primary objectives of the Director, Internal Audit are to promote effective internal control at a reasonable cost and to assist the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Group management and employees in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by providing analysis, appraisals, recommendations, counsel and information concerning the adequacy and effectiveness of the Group’s internal control structure.

Main responsibilities:
- Set up Audit function from scratch
- Assist the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in the development of optimal Group strategies, policies, plans and budgets as a member of the Group Management Committee and various committees;
- Assess risk areas within the Group, recommend solutions to minimize or eliminate risk exposure and to oversee the implementation of the solutions following the approval of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer;
- Annually develop and execute an audit plan, broken down by month, at the Corporate and Division or Business Unit level that is reviewed and approved by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and the Audit Committee;
- Provide Group management with a preliminary written report of the results and recommendations of each audit, analysis, review or investigation performed (final reports will contain management’s response to recommendations and will be distributed to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and relevant Group management);
- Investigate known or suspected acts of fraud involving Group funds, property and employees in coordination with appropriate legal counsel;
- Conduct special projects or studies as requested by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, the Board or the Audit Committee;
- Submit a quarterly report to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer summarizing the results of audit activities and identifying significant audit findings and recommendations;
- Safeguard Group assets and minimize liabilities through the timely and cost-effective audit of Group operations, and timely and authoritative advice and help in the areas of financial controls, assessment, taxation and regulatory matters;
- Ensure the proper and complete compliance and accurate implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls and management information systems in cooperation with Corporate Finance and Planning, the Manager, Information Technology, and Division or Business Unit Comptrollers;
- Ensure the proper implementation of all SAP modules by all concerned employees, and to perform audit trails to assess the degree of compliance with SAP policies and procedures by each Division or Business Unit or Department;
- Ensure that alternative approaches have been thoroughly evaluated and that the optimal solution is proposed and soundly and financially justified, when seeking higher approval for a course of action.

Requirements

- Professional Audit Qualification
- 15+ years of experience, 5 years in a similar Director level role (as a minimum) ideally in a large industrial group
- Proven experience setting up Audit function from scratch
- Substantial experience working in a large industrial group
- Substantial Audit experience gained in mature markets ie UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand as well as Western Europe is a must
- Local regional experience is highly desired
- Previous exposure to IPO would be an advantage
