Discipline Engineering Manager - Instrumentation - Offshore Projects

Job description / Role

Our client is a leading EPCI firm highly specialized in offshore projects within oil l& gas industry in the GCC region and based in UAE.

They seeking to recruit top-notch instrumentation professional to head their engineering discipline for instrumentation which works only on offshore projects. Accordingly, the job holder needs to demonstrate hands-on working experience in offshore instrumentation sizing & design and standards related to the region practice such as Aramco standards.

Reporting to the engineering head, the job-holder shall
- Manage the Discipline Engineering functions for the discipline
- Develop and structure the engineering capabilities for the Discipline in line with the strategic development plan, recognising that engineering services are required in multiple locations for different types of project.
- Ensure that all engineering resources for the discipline are effectively and efficiently employed and ensure that the duplication of resources across facilities is avoided.
- Plan the human resources for the discipline, recruit and deploy the resources as required over various facilities and projects
- Select and manage appropriate engineering software for the discipline and ensure its effective and efficient utilisation.
- Monitor and ensure achievement of key performance indicators for the engineering discipline.
- Ensure client technical engineering requirements are identified and understood and ensure that the Discipline meets its contractual obligations from an engineering perspective in all instances.
- Review basic designs provided by third parties for Engineering Procurement Construction projects to ensure the designs meet the customer’s performance criteria. Also, support projects and production ensuring that engineering deliverables are provided on time.
- Manage the subcontractors when engineering activities are outsourced or subcontracted.
- Establish and ensure the use of standard engineering details across the discipline.
- Contribute to the professional development of employees with by providing training and mentoring.
- Support the commercial team and provide technical assistance when required for Bids and Proposals.
- Develop the procedures for the engineering discipline as part of the Management System
- Ensure quality and accuracy of the engineering deliverables for the discipline as well as ensure the compliance with health, safety and environmental responsibilities.

Requirements

The right profile for this role should demonstrate / have the followings:
- Engineering design experience for heavy offshore projects.
- Engineering project management
- Ability to conduct estimation for offshore projects within his discipline
- Ability to manage the department budget
- Ability to work closely with other disciplines to realize offshore projects.
- Ability to manager customer and to maintain excellent and professional business partnership
- Ability to optimize productivity of the department
- Demonstrate excellent negotiation skills, in particular with the clients.
- Possess strategic thinking and ability in conducting the related analysis
- Possess at least 15 years working experience within oil & gas industry all on offshore / marine projects, where he worked on engineering, construction and design. Out of which, at least 5 years should be at senior managerial level.
- Possess an engineering degree in electronics, instrumentation or similar discipline gained from well-known university
- Leadership is a must for this role, the job-holder needs to manage professionally around 25 offshore professionals.
