Dressmaker

Job description / Role

A new fashion house that bends the boundaries between art and fashion. Is looking to hire an exceptional and hard working Dressmaker. Which he/she can assist in creating their made-to-measure couture dresses and outfits. Where they can cut and sew fabrics based on patterns that will be given to him. The tailor will be in charge of:

- Cutting the fabric and sewing.
- Altering the garments to create perfect fits.
- Creating samples based on collection briefs & designs.
- Assist pattern makers and embroiders to achieve the best design and quality possible.

Requirements

- Fluent in either Arabic or English
- Team player and self motivated
- Exceptional sewing skills
- Knowledge in different sewing & hand stitching techniques
- Understanding of Couture finishings and the ability hand stitch dress finishings.

About the Company

Coming from a global background being an Arab American as well as being educated in the Italian fashion techniques I Zaid Taji Farouki found inspiration in the fusion of cultures. Imagining a woman adorned by European clean cuts, true American liberties, and the ever-existent Arab dramatization has helped me to create the globally hybrid woman, a representative of a new globalized world and the woman whom I yearn to design for.

My pieces are all hand made and abide by couture techniques, embroidery, and finishing. Furthermore all my prints are hand painted onto the fabric therefore the wearer becomes a walking piece of art.
