Editor - Islamic Economy Portal

The role is to edit and package content for the Islamic Economy Portal project (particularly the retail portal), and the broader Islamic finance business unit, under the supervision of a Lead Editor, gradually moving to more independent work with greater responsibility and more opportunities to help make editing decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure articles and all other content in all formats are edited to a high standard of accuracy, balance, style, objectivity and reliable sourcing.
- Revise and package content per product requirements (e.g. News, Trending, Top Comments etc.)
- Alert Lead Editor on beats picked up by competitors.
- Create content either independently or through managing a team of regular contributors.
- Be the day-to-day liaison and editorial guide for contributors and content partners.
- Work with Lead Editor to commission work outside of regular contributing team and appointed partners and suppliers.

SCOPE & IMPACT:
- Pro-active in developing relationships with contributors and content partners.
- Responsible for editing and packaging of the required content for the Islamic Economy Portal.
- Required to coordinate closely with internal teams.
- Team player with a flexible attitude and approach.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject (Finance, Banking, Business, Accounting etc).
- Strong background in Halal lifestyle sector demonstrated through at least three years of related work experience is preferable.
- Minimum 4 to 6 years experience of providing managing the editorial content in a publication or online platform.
- Work experience directly managing writers and content partners is preferable.
- Work experience reporting and editing consumer lifestyle content is preferable.

TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong communication, planning and administration skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Track record of reporting and editing content to a high standard.
- Strong understanding and appreciation of Halal sector subject matter and its paradigms.
- Strong awareness of global perspectives and issues, and able to collaborate across borders and boundaries.
