Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Client is a well known metal plant company based in the GCC, are looking for an Electrical Engineer who monitors plant performance, instigates and actions engineering solutions to improve productive efficiency and ensuring maximum safety of personnel at all times. The prospective candidate would be also expected to procure and install new equipment too.

Main Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
* Reviews daily reports and takes follow-up actions to avoid recurring problems
* Schedules the electrical work programmes.
* Ensure work-in-progress reports reviewed and prevent recurring problems.
* Tours the plant to monitor electrical equipment and facilities with follow up actions taken.
* To ensure plans/schedules are in place.
* Troubleshoots and resets equipment when necessary.
* Carries out fault finding on digital, analogue electronic circuits.
* Designs and supervises the installation of power distribution systems in accordance with statutory regulations (range 11kv/415v/240v).
* Authorizes and makes changes to machine operating cycles as per requirement.
* Carries out modifications and developments to control systems.
* Writes specifications for procurement of new items of plant, modifications to equipment and contractors/suppliers scope of work.
* Evaluates technical submissions by suppliers.
* To ensure that the writing of specification for procurement of items, equipment modifications and evaluation of suppliers are done diligently.
* Ensure all research and development work is in-line with company improvement strategy.
* Orders spare and replacement parts with research undertaken for any cost cutting alternatives. Would be also required to inspect deliveries to ensure they comply with specifications.
* Assists with maintenance engineers in breakdown work.
* Must be prepared to undertake visits locally and overseas too in order to act as an engineering representative for the company.
* Provide assistance in preparation of the engineering maintenance budget. Would also involve negotiation with suppliers too.
* Attends meetings and takes actions on the decisions made
* Provide training of future employees on technical and operational aspects
* Deputizes for Maintenance Manager.
* Carries out any other related work as assigned by supervisor.
* Required to carry out his/her duties in a safe manner with regard of the safety of his/her fellow workers in accordance to the company's Safety Policy and the national statutory regulations.
* The prospective candidate is required to act in a responsible manner and follows reasonable instructions from their supervisor
* A majority of work should be undertaken by his/her own initiative but their priorities should be set by the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

* Must hold an Bachelors degree qualification (or similar) in Electrical Engineering
* Must have at least 5 years experience in heavy industry, preferably working with metals
* Excellent working knowledge of statutory regulations, installation practices, variable speed drives (AC and DC), rolling practices, PLC's - programme development and fault finding, computer systems and data transfer systems.
* Excellent written and spoken English
