Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Electrical Engineer (CTS) will determine and compile procedures for maintenance overhaul and commissioning processes for all electrical components and systems on both existing vessels and new builds.

Support Drydocking superintendents and regional superintendents with all electrical related work onboard the vessels and at site.

Technical
- Preparation of equipment technical scopes detailing requirements and parameters for all electrical equipment on the vessels.
- Design of Electrical Load Analysis & Electrical diagrams for new installations, conversions and modifications and liaise with Class or other regulatory bodies for the design approval.
- Preparation of required production drawings for supplier equipment for practical installation and guidance onboard.
- Preform technical tasks as defined in ‘Job Purpose’ above or as instructed.
- Preparation of required documentation to support activities such as installation and testing, commissioning procedures, progress reports, quality checks, trial and completion reports.
- Attend vessels worldwide as required to supervise work as directed.
- Supervise and co-ordinate particular repairs, surveys and overhauls, including insurance claim repairs and ensure that all work meets the required preset specifications
- Ensure that particular work and repairs on the vessels meet company, class, flag and clients’ standards / requirements.
- Participate in annual review and evaluate projects to determine success and how improvements can be made in the future report and present findings.

Planning and Cost Control
- Review equipment and spare parts orders to ensure works can be carried out as specified, Purchasing Department to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Assist in the preparation of work plans following a logical sequence and optimizing resources.
- Evaluate offers, determine the most economic technical solution and lead and advise drydock superintendents and procurement engineers on all electrical and instrumentation related issues.
- Monitor all equipment and other related costs against budget on a daily basis and report any deviations immediately.

Reporting
- Ensure Fleet Technical Superintendents are kept fully informed on progress of related work on a daily basis or as instructed in accordance with company procedures.
- Provide written reports as required, detailing in service repairs, dry-docking repairs and surveys.
- Keep accurate reports of work progress and include relevent support as appropriate.

Requirements

- Electrical Engineering Degree.
- Preferably 4 years sea experience as ships electrical engineer.
OR
- Min 2-4 years of shore experience in a Ship Building/Repair Yard as Electrical Engineer

Job-Specific Skills:
- Electrical Engineer/ Electrical Project supervisor on major conversion and new build projects
- Technical drawing reading/design capabilities (CAD)
- Extensive knowledge of major Class Societies requirements (ABS, DNV-GL, BV and ISO)
- Basic knowledge of a Planned Maintenance System (AMOS, NS5, etc…)
- Electrical Outfitting experience OSV
