Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

* To provide thought leadership on Employee Relations (ER) policies, practices and processes
* To actively reduce the cost and reliance on external legal counsel by providing in-house subject matter expertise
* To work closely with HR Business Partners and Group HR Legal to develop products, policies and processes to up-skill line managers in effectively dealing with ER related matters
* To work closely with the HR Business Partners to deal with ER related issues and embedding Fair Accountability, directly managing specific cases as agreed with Head of HR (e.g. proactive case management, contractual terms and conditions, performance management, policy development, grievance, disciplinary, restructuring, redundancy)
* Develop and maintain key internal relationships with stakeholders
* End to end management of ER Risk

Key Roles and Responsibilities

* Provide specialist ER support to develop effective employee relations strategies that are aligned to business objectives
* Ensure that the Bank adheres to all local employment practices, policies and legislative requirements
* Responsible for resolving and in specific cases managing end to end, all complex employee relations cases (e.g. redundancies, grievances, disciplinaries, etc)
* Streamline processes for managing ER administration, in particular ensure standard documentation is used
* Support line managers on the interpretation of local employment practices and legal requirements
* Proactively update HRBPs and line managers on recent employment law legislative changes and developments
* Develop value added training programmes for HRBPs & line managers to deal with critical ER related issues and embedding Fair Accountability
* Management of ER risk , including identification, assessment, control and monitoring

Requirements

* Qualified employment lawyer or ER specialist
* Demonstrable record of experience within a matrix organization, across a range of ER activities
* Skilled employee relations professional with experience particularly in relation to working with Ministry of Labour
* Commercially astute
* Ability to manage conflicting and demanding internal and external stakeholders at all levels
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
* General IT/MS Office skills (i.e Word, Excel, etc.).
* Arabic speaker preferred.
