Engineering Manager - natural gas processing - compression packaging industry

Our client requires an Engineering Manager to join on a permanent residential basis in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The main purpose of the position is to provide excellent leadership to a team of supervisors overseeing project managers, designers, and engineering departments. Along with overall coordinating and designing assigned compression and process plant projects from inception through completion, as well as providing final reviews of other design engineers’ work prior to submitting to the client.

The main responsibilities are:

• Ensure engineering designs are in accordance with internationally recognised standards, codes and specifications
• Fulfil obligations under the contract agreement with customer related to engineering scope of work for the project
• Accountable for ensuring the engineering deliverables and schedules are achieved and that there are cooperative interactions between internal and external customers
• Assume leadership role in occasional special project or process improvement initiative
• Assume ownership of engineering and project related issues
• Act as a focal point within organisation for all engineering activities
• Manage engineering interface with the PMC (if any) or customer
• Witness any inspection and/or testing requirement
• Provide support to commissioning and start up planning activities
• Participate in projects, sales, proposal & applications initiatives as required
• Participate in Engineering department target setting, budgets, and objectives
• Improve department processes, procedures, and workflow to optimise engineering deliverables to procurement and production
• Balance recruitment needs with succession planning and provision of up-to-date systems, tools and procedures
• Manage the Engineering team activities and motivate and develop the team
• Comply with all company HR, Quality, HSE and all the company policies, procedures, processes, work instructions and guidelines

Requirements

Suitable candidates will have a Bachelors in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 10 years’ experience in natural gas processing and compression packaging industry and a minimum 2 years in a managerial post, Strong knowledge of designing gas compression and gas processing equipment.

Experience of working with PMC and EPC contractors, Excellent time management, organisation, and communication skills both verbal and written. An understanding of financial statements and budget management would be beneficial. Proficient computer skills including knowledge of MS Project or Primavera, Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment, problem solving oriented, systematic, leadership skills, and proven latitude.
